Release Recommended For Man Who Shot Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Deputy
LEXINGTON, Okla. (AP) -- The state's Pardon and Parole Board recommends early release for a man who shot an Oklahoma County sheriff's deputy in the face during a drug raid.

Robert Lee Young has served 18 years of a 60-year sentence for the shooting.

The parole board Monday recommended the 41-year-old be released after completing substance abuse training and spending four months in a community corrections center.

Young shot Deputy Robert Jim Manger in the nose while Manger and six other deputies were serving a search warrant at a northeast Oklahoma City apartment building in 1987.

Young says he had a gun but that he tripped, causing it to fire.

He was recommended for parole in 2002, but was denied by the governor.

Yes but, just because the Board recommends Parole for this thug, doesn't mean that the governor has to approve it. Time for Okies to put a little political heat on Brad Henry.

Why would anyone do that?
Henry is a good guy....he made it illegal to prohibit guns in parking lots and he gave us the lottery.
:rolleyes2

Maybe to keep him from paroling this thug?

I know...it was sarcasm.
(I hate when that happens)

This POS deserves to rot in prison.

I absolutely agree this scum needs to rot. It really gets my goat when something like this comes up. He shot an officer and they want to let him go??? Oh yeah he's all rehabilitated I'm sure...LOL

That was one accurate trip. I suppose he tripped an fell through the window into a drug raid as well. Also, everyone runs around with a loaded weapon in their hands at drug houses...it's the latest craze....
