I was just at Academy outdooors and saw they had raised the price of the winchester white box 9mm to $6.93 for a box of 50.I believe blazer was $4.96.The 2 guys i talked to behind the counter shouldn't be allowed to be around guns or sharp objects.

It is funny that you posted this tonight because I was killing time at the Edmond store listening to the salesman explain to a customer why he should buy a Glock 23 versus a Ruger 9mm. His reasoning was, I kid you not, that a 9mm was no better that a 22lr and was usless as a defensive round.

Off topic I know, but still need to get this off my mind.

I bet that he had scientific proof to back up the 9mm/.22 claim as well.

Proof: His commission is bigger on a $550 Glock than it is on a $339 Ruger!

Their Glock prices were cheaper then the Springfield XD (which were $50 hgher than Sportsmans).

I left out one of the better parts, he said that the Ruger was not built very well and would not hold up.

I felt bad for the guy trying to decide which gun to buy based on the crap that he was being told.

I was in academy and the guy behind the counter was telling this guy that all glocks are made to shoot underwater, and then the guy asked how recoil was on the .45 compared to the .40 and 9mm, and he said it was quite a bit more and recoil much more harshly lol. Couldn't be farther from the truth, don't even get me started on the guy talking about the M16 and holding the AR15, kept going on about how the M16's bullets tumbles in air, then he asked what bullet it shot and he couldn't believe ar15's only shot the wimpy .223 lol.

Would you say that it is cheaper to reload 9mm or buy factory?

Probably still as cheap to buy Blazer 9mm.

The Glocks will shoot under water but you don't want to use hollow points on it nor do you want to shoot it in an enclosed area such as a pool while you are in it. Glock makes firing pin shotcups that have grooves in them and that helps the water flow more freely through the firing pin channel but the wear out faster. The regular firing pin shotcups will work just fine though.

If anyone is going to buy these, they are called maritime spring cups.

Since we are on a thread drift......
The Maritime spring cups were designed to allow water to drain from the FP channel when emerging from water.
FWIW,regular spring cups will fire underwater and also after emerging.
As always....Don't try this at home. ;)

That's not too bad, from price of ammo to shooting underwater. I'll take some of the blame for getting off topic, sorry.

i just spent the last hour+ looking for bulk ammo discounts. couldn't find anything as cheap as blazer for 4.96, even when looking at 1000+ at a whack.

Have you checked Wal-Mart? The used to sell UMC and Blazer Brass for $4.26 a box but now the Blazer is up to around $4.86. At least that is what it is at a Wal-Mart that I go to in Broke Arrow.

I like your signature SubSonic. I called the local Walmart, the best deal they had was 10.90 or 11.xx for 100 box. I called Academy, and asked for the lowest price 9mm... the guy comes back and says, I kid you not: "blazer for 9.96" I was like... ummm, no. I asked a couple more times, then said real slowly, Do you still have the 4.96 Blazer 9mm? He says, oh, I was looking at the .40!! No DUH!!!
:smack:
Then I ask how much he has in stock. He says as much as you want. I don't think he was thinking 1-2k rounds tho. :nolike:

Thanks for the complements on the sig line. I know that for a while Wal-Mart was selling Remington UMC 9mm for $4.26 a box so I bought a bunch of it. They were selling it for cheaper then Remington dealer's cost but I am sure they made that loss up somewhere else. Blazer Brass was going for the same price but now it is up to $4.86 or something like that a box. I know that there are sometimes different prices for the same items at the same store in the same town. I believe Channel 2 did a piece on that one night to where some items cost more in the lower income parts of town (north tulsa) compaired to higher income parts of town (south tulsa).

Wal-Mart "adjusts" their prices to beat any competitor in the area. If there is no competitor in the area selling that particular item, the price will be higher than at another Wal-Mart.

I was at Academy in S.OKC a week ago. They had around 20-30 cases of Blazer 9mm sitting out in an aisle for anyone to grab. The individual boxes (of any caliber of handgun ammo) were behind the gun counter.

Maybe they should open an Academy next to Gun World! Oh, sorry. Off topic again!
