Went down and done the fingerprint thing, turned in my app, gave the OSBI some money. Now for the wait. They said 6 to 8 weeks.

You'll be lucky to get it that quick... I think 12 weeks is still the norm. Congrats though! It's really nice to have the comfort of personal protection when you're out alone or in unfamiliar areas.

My first one was 12 weeks - I let the renewal lapse 6 months - so I had to do the paperwork all over again - only took 2 weeks!

Waiting sucks, but it will be worth it when you get it.
Have you already picked out a carry piece, holster, etc?

When I first read the title, I thought we were going to have to pitch in to bail out Mack.

Took exactly 91 days for mine.

I have been thinking about carrying my Beretta Tomcat until I get comfortable with concealment, don't want to start with my G21. I havent decided on which holster to use yet. Its a tossup between IWB and smartcarry. Any suggestions? It was the gal at the SO who told me 6 to 8 weeks, I guess i'll just have to wait and see how long.

I love the G21. I'm going to carry mine during the cooler months. For summer time I don't carry anything bigger than my G30.
If you already have an IWB and smart carry, try them out now. Don't break the law. Just try wearing them for an evening/weekend or two in the house. This might help you decide which will work better for you.
Personally I pocket carry or use owb holsters. I used to carry a P-11 SOB with the belt clip. It was incredibly comfortable, but my P-11 started giving me problems and was quickly retired.
Mine took the full 90 days but the renewal took two weeks.

I dont have any holsters for concealed carry yet. I've just been reading about the different methods. I usually wear my shirt tucked in so that is a consideration. I think that smart carry would be hard to draw from if you were sitting down but would be the best for concealment. I think that I would like something like ctac for IWB, I liked the pics J.P. had in the daily carry thread. My concern about that is printing. Maybe its just me but I can usually spot someone carrying with that method.

Get a Milt Sparks Versa Max 2 , C-Tac, or Hidden Alley - all great tuckable holsters. I use a Galco "Glove" Ankle holster and really like it!
