View Full Version : CCI Blazer Brass
Does anyone shoot this? How well do you like it? Also, I had heard someone say not to use the regular CCI Blazer alum. case rounds, but I cant remember why? Someone please school me

I can't tell that there is anything wrong with blazer. I like it better than white box. Seems to be cleaner.

Are you talking about reloading it?
as for reloading it, no. As for the regular CCI Blazer, for the life of me I cant remember what it was, but something to do with maybe bad powder foulings? or bad feeding? (although I've never had a problem with feeding, with the limited amount I've shot) Anyway. If everyone is in agreement that there is nothing wrong with it. Then thats that. Its all I'll ever buy for target being that its the usually the cheapest.
But for the sake of reloading, how much do you actually save. As for the press and such, I've got, all i would need is dies. I already reload my rifle rounds, but for the sake of accuracy, and consistanancy.

Not supposed to use the regular Blazers in firearms with fluted chambers such as in Heckler & Koch firearms. I know that HK specifically states not to use them in their owners manual.

I have put about 200 round in the 40 S&W stuff through my Glocks. I didn't have any FTF. Seemed clean. and patterned good at an indoor range out to 15 yards. I didn't try it any further than that.
Just for info. The Brass reloads just fine. I haven't had any issues with it yet.

I shoot a lot of the Blazer in brass and aluminum. I have never had a problem with either. It is cheap, reliable, burns clean, and is accurate. What more could you ask for, as far as range ammo goes.

Ya, know I'm almost positive thats where I got it from. I used to own an HK USP9. I knew that I had either read it or had been told. LOL. Thanks for the reply, this question has been driving me nuts :screwy:

I have shot thousands of blazer aluminum 9mm, .357 mag, 45acp, etc.... good stuff.
I have found Blazer aluminum to be the cleanest ammo available in 9mm.
That's all I ever shoot.

About 3 months ago I bought about 12-14 boxes of .45 Blazer Brass from Natchez. It seemed like they werent crimped right. You could even spin/move some of the bullets in the cases. Caused a lot of FTFs, since the rim of the case would snag on the ramp. That is the only time I'd bought any and I havent bought any since.

I have shot both and I have reloaded the brass. I find it shots cleaner then White box from Winchester. I like The alum. ammo because no need to chase it down and pick it up.

I buy 9mm Blazer aluminum a case at a time at Academy. Never had any issues, just good, cheap range ammo.

The only Blazer problems I have heard of are in 9x23 Largo. Some Star Modelo Super owners have found that there are problems with the extractor because the extractor groove in the Blazer is much shallower and shorter than in the Spanish made Largo ammo.
One of my old beater Supers (a SARCO Gunsmith Special I gave $90 for) likes Blazer's Largo just fine. Haven't tried it in the other junker or my nice one.
I like the way their regular 9mm shoots. The 9x18 works well, but is usually overpriced. Their .45 ACP is just fine too, and the small amount of .32 I have used performed well.
I think I read somewhere that aluminum cases can't be resized properly or safely. I certainly would not want to experiment with it. CB
