My wife and I like to shoot pistols, but I thought I'd try something different. I saw a site on the web for "Oklahoma Sporting Clays" and tried the phone number on the page. The phone number didn't work.
Is the place still open? Anybody know how much it is to do a course? Do they have shotguns to rent? And do 20-gauge shotguns work for that kind of thing also? My wife is a little bitty thing, and I don't think she'd enjoy a 12-gauge.
Thanks!

Last I heard, Chesapeke had bought the place and was planning on building an employee only place out there.
EDIT: There is a place just west of the Lazy E, I forget the name, but you can shoot sporting clays there.
Oklahoma Sporting Clays is the Oklahoma City Gun Club. It is not for sale as it cannot be sold under its charter. Nice range, they offer a little bit of everything from black powder to cowboy action shooting. They do not rent guns, though. I believe the fee is $180. $80 is the yearly fee after that. 8 hours of service per year is required, usually done on one day. I am thinking of submitting my application. We are sponsoring the Sooner State Shoot there this year and one other in September. The other place is Silverleaf. It is on Douglas just a furlong north of Seward from the E. I don't remember if they rent guns there or not. We just sponsored the Halliburton/CASA shoot for kids. It is a nice place as well. Strictly shotguns, though.

There's a place about a mile west of the Banner Road rifle range (canadian county firing range).
My wife and I are going to shoot clays up there sometime within the next month. We go to the rifle range some, but we've never been to the shotgun area.
My wife shoots my Remington 1100 .410. It's easy on her shoulder, but hard on my wallet for the ammo. We're talking about getting a 20 gauge in the future.
If you want to meet out there some weekend, you could shoot some with my guns (just pay for the ammo).
I stand corrected. Apparently, Silverleaf does have shotguns to rent. A buddy of mine is the Beretta rep and they sell them guns just for that purpose. You might just see me out there.
