I did not realize that Hefner was so shallow in parts. We almost became stuck! Foot and a half on the south side by Pearls. But, the fishing was decent. I did not know that Hefner had walleye! I can't wait to try out my new Taco Salad 200. Sounds kinda like a Nascar race!

Hefner has some good walleye fishing. Gets water from Canton Lake which has given up some good walleye to me in the past.

There is a healthy population of bass in Hefner also, large and small mouth. They have been stocking the lake every year for a while now. I have caught many 3-4 pound largemouth there.

Yes, at the south and east sides of the lake there are very shallow areas. If you don't know where they are you can run a boat onto ground easily. Hefner is a nice lake for being in the middle of the city. But if the wind is up, that thing can get really rough.

minnow with no weight works for me for those walleye. they are sure fun to catch, good fighters! saw a litte kid bring in a 6 pounder once at the old bait house that they tore down.

It is a bandit brand lure. The guys at work say that it works really well. Unlike the Taco Salad 100, you can run it down to 10-12 feet. The 100 runs shallow. If you need to run shallow, keep your rod tip up on the 200. Well colored, too.

Ohh yes, I know Bandit crankbaits very well. I should own part of the company by now, I have bought so many. Bandit makes excellent lures, the best for the money. I have not seen the Taco Salad, but I have not bought any in the last year or two. I have caught many, many fish on Bandits. I have also won several tournaments with a fish or two I caught on a Bandit.

I usually fish with soft plastics of some kind. One day at Tenkiller, the bass would not hit anything. I said to myself, "What is the most unlikely bait to catch something right now? That is what I need." I tied on a Baby Bass Bandit and started cranking. After about the 5th fish in a row, my partner said, "Do you have anymore of those?" I gave him one and he started catching nice spots also. After that day I keep a Bandit crankbait near me always. I don't use them very often. But when the conditions are right, the bass will tear them up!!!
