I only had 12 water jugs tonight so I couldn't do much experimenting with denim, bone, glass etc.

Rounds were:
1ea. Remington UMC 180gr JHP (walmart special)
2ea. Winchester Ranger 165gr

All were fired into bare water jugs at 10 ft.

Perceived recoil was strongest with the UMC 180gr.

UMC penetrated three jugs and was recovered *stuck* in the front wall of the 4th jug, fully expanded and intact.
Recovered diameter was .66"
Fully expanded jacket diameter was 1.02"

Ranger #1 was recovered in the 3rd jug and had shed it's jacket.
Recoverd diameter was .63"
Jacket diameter was .86"

Ranger #2 was recovered in the 3rd jug and was intact.
Recovered diameter was .63"
Fully expanded diameter was 1.32"

The Ranger expands to HUGE diameters and has very sharp 'Talons'.
I'd like to see a 'bonded' version of this round so the jacket stays put.

The UMC looked like just about any other standard 180gr JHP but it is a *very* accurate round.
Both have showed better penetration when fired them through 4 layers of denim.

*Not that anyone is interested but I also have some less than impressive video clips of each test.
I'll email them if you want them*
