First of all,Welcome aboard!

There is no 'maximum' amount by law in Oklahoma.
The capacity of your MAGAZINE dictates how many you carry.

You really need to spend a great deal of time getting familiar with the various models, preferably by renting and shooting them.
Still, you will find that Glock is the best choice for carry.

No limit. If you are about to take your class, you should start writing down all your questions to take with you. I'm sure you can get them all answered here, but by asking in the class too, it gives the other students the benefit of learning from your questions.

JP is right about renting and testing guns at the range. It's the best way to decide what's right for you.

Thanks for all the great info... I am currently debating on the Glock 19 and the Glock 37... but now I will probably go with the 19 now that I know i can carry more bullets... what's you guys take on it.....

The 19 is an excellent choice. The ammo is inexpensive compared to the 45gap. It holds more rounds and it's easier to conceal than the 37.

Definitely the G19,without question.
The 45GAP is a flash in the pan,IMO.

With Blazer 9mm being $3,86/50rd or $85/100rd at Academy, you just can't beat it.
Ammo this cheap means you can afford to practice more which is really the most important thing.

+1 for the g19. seriously, its the only 9mm worth owning. ok, the 17 and 26 are acceptable too...... the 19 is just a nice item. the size, the capacity. it is perfection.
i think theres too much hype with the 40s&w, imho its comparable in performance to the 9mm anyways. if you want something bigger just get a 45acp. and the 45gap is just as jp said...... dont waste your time or money.
consider a g30. g36 might be too small. id opt for a snub nose revolver for a carry gun though. but thats just me.

A clip is used to hold something !!! A magazine is used to hold ammo!!!! thats all I've Got To Say.

The M-1 Garand used an eight round "clip", stripper clips hold ammo in preparation for quick loading into magazines. I think that a lot of people use the words clip and magazine to mean the same thing. Maybe clip is a slang term for magazine to some people. These are just my thoughts on the subject.

'Clip' and 'magazine' is used interchangeably
'Magazine' is proper for a pistol but newbies make this mistake frequently.
We need to educate them without criticisizing them.
Remember,at one timewe were ignorant too. ;)

Yes, I agree. We want the newbies to feel free to ask. There are no dumb questions. I am still a newbie in many areas.

I would agree that 9mm is a very nice round for carry, given its stopping power versus capacity.

However, I will argue that a Glock may not be the best weapon for him. I like my 1911, but I realize that its not practical to carry. However, I am quite fond of the trigger on the 1911, and I despise the trigger on the Glocks. Having said that I like what the Glock offers. I found a compromise between the two in a P99. Granted still a little large for carry, but I was thinking for the car anyway. I agree with what was said about renting though. Just felt I would through in a Non-Glock view. :wink2:

My wife had a 9 MM and after she shot my .45 she liked it best. The recoil is different. The best and only way to find out what is best for you is by shooting different calibers. The same is true for brands of guns. Contrary to what this Forum tends to lead you to beleive, there are good guns beside Glocks. I would shoot as many different guns as possible before deciding which one to get. Just my 2 cents worth. :)

I'll admit to being a fan of glocks, but I'm not sure I would agree with your statement.

I could be wrong about my opinion about what the posts tend to lead you to believe. That was just my opinion as a new member. The other new members can decide for themselves. But the statement that there are other good guns beside Glocks I'll stand behind. I don't have a problem with Glocks, and would have one if I liked them. I just realize that different people like different things.
