I have a couple of those skinning knives, like the one on the bottom. It is excellent.

I have not tried the buck knife, let me know how you like it.

+P on the bottom knife.
I modified mine a little. With a small file, where your thumb goes, I put five 1/16th inch groves in the tange. It will improve your grip when your hands get messy. There is nothing hard about the modification either just make the grooves even and smooth out the edges.

Of course I like it or I would not tell you, but the knife works fine like it is, but I like to tinker with things.

I have seen the other, but I don't own one. I think the bar over the hook looks real practical, in the I don't want my hand sliced open category. I want to make a gut hook knife. But, I have the blank and handles for four more knives I need to make, before venturing into a store and buying another knife. I think you know what I mean.

Yeah i get it. The top knife is supposed to be for busting bones like the pelvis bone in deer. Ive got a movie that shows big game cleaning and whitetail deer cleaning and this knife make it look easy. Ill find out this season.

I have had the knife on bottom for atleast 9 years and love it. Mostly used for cleaning fish though.

"knife on bottom" = Schrade Sharp Finger. Great little skinner, and since Schrade has gone Tango Uniform, becoming collectible. Used to sell for about $20, but going up. Still see 'em in pawnshops quite a bit. CB
