Ok so I have been shooting a lot more usually and its starting to hurt the pocket buying it a box at a time. So I was wondering where do you guys buy your bulk ammo? I am looking for something cheap, yet pretty clean. I dont want to jam my gun up with something as dirty as american ammunition for instance.
I am looking to buy by the case and was just interested in where you guys purchase ammo?
I rarely shoot .45 but you might try www.Natchezss.com

Natchezss.com is good , If you do not mind reloads. National Bullet Co.The more you buy the cheaper it is. I purchased 1000 rounds from Natchezs. I split this with a buddy.Total was 170.00 . Hope this helps. DC
If you shoot a 45 much at all it would not take long for the savings to pay for a reloader. I have a Dillon 550, I think that the press and one set of dies will be about 350. A single stage is cheaper than that but it takes quite a bit of time to make the same amout of rounds

about how much would it cost to reload per 1000 rds (excluding cost of dies and press)
I have never sat down and figured up the price per thousand, I bought 5k lead 230 RN yesterday for 200, primers for a thousand run about 16-18, and powder for say a one pound container is about 16-20.
I use 4.3 grains on my loads now but I have never sat down and figured how many rounds that equals up to. The down side to reloading is you are pressed for time it my be better to buy factory loads, but I like knowing that I built it and for the last two years and who knows how many thousand rounds that I have loaded I have never had any problems with the rounds.
If you do buy factory stuff one bit of advice, stay away from A-MERC !

Excluding all of the reloading equipment costs and brass, since it's re-used many times in a low pressure cartridge like .45ACP, I estimate my reload costs at $0.05- $0.06 per round.
Buying in bulk saves money, and the new $7 priority mail boxes have made it cheaper to buy bullets from out of state. As for powder & primers, 4 and 8lb jugs knock a bit off the price and buying 5k+ primers helps as well.
I reload in batches. Leave the RL550 set up for 1-2 days and load several K, then build a few handloads for the rifles with a single stage press and put everything away in foot lockers.
As it's been said before, reloading won't save you any money, you'll just be able to shoot more..... :wink2:
