I drew a hunt at the Okmulgee GMA. Anyone have any experience hunting the area?

I also was drawn for the Lexington Hunt in Nov. Will they let you scout anytime prior to the hunt? I know, I probably should ask the Wildlife Dept. but I thought I'd start here....also, same question by PistolPete, anyone ever hunt at Lexington and if so, how'd you do?

Please tell me that hunters do not actually vandalize other hunters equipment...(I know this is naive, but I have never been drawn before and it pains me to think I'll be worrying about equipment all day when I should be enjoying the "moment").

I usually am able to hunt on private land and this has never been an issue....

i guess i left it open to speculation....i don't know all the details, but i don't think it was ever another hunter. i'll ask for more details just to ease your concerns.

actualy okmulgee is ok... thre's some problems with the wardens out at keystone tho...

zippered open my jeep window turned on the lights left me with dead battery (i showed up at 1pm, i know the lights weren't on when i left the jeep)

they'll try and write you tickets for **** that's legal and unless you know the regs solid enough to call them on it, they'll write the ticket, tried to bust my buddy for not wearing orange, only problem is it wasn't deer season.

stuff like that... gotta watch those gumbys man.

My grandfather and I drew in on Ft. Gibson archery hunt last year. There are certain days they let us scout before the hunt up until a couple of weeks prior. We would stay on the roads, just drive through, and see at least thirty deer or more everytime. The day of the hunt the temp was 92 degrees. I didn't see anything but a bunch of sweat beads rolling off my head.

For the second year in a row, I didn't get drawn for a damn thing:mad:

Since moving here in '99, I've only been drawn for WMA's antlerless deer gun shoot and MAAC's archery hunt.

At least I still get a week of Elk archery season at Ft. Sill, which costs me only diesel and chow.
