I purchased (paid for) a suppressor months ago. I have been trying to get in contact with Bryon via phone and email but no response. I would really like to figure out the status of my order.

Is he even still in business? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
David

I believe that this is the Major's "other" employment and not unusual.

This is correct. Bryon Gaston with Something Endosurgury. I believe his full time is surgical equipment sales. I would be worried if the voice mail said something besides that.

He has been attending to his father who according to Bryon's post on Silencer Talk has been ill.

I saw him yesterday. He is catching up after having to move his father to OK in order to care for him. Keep trying he will get back with you.

ohisee.

I couldn't understand the name other than something that sounded like "stone" and the company name. really muddied the water there for a sec.

His last name rhymes with "stone" so that's probably what you heard.

I met up with him just last week, so he's still in business, and taking care of his customers when he can. He's really friendly guy and awesome to do business with. He's just got some personal things going on, and has a lot of catching up to do for the time that he's been away, so give him some time and he'll get you taken care of.

@OP: Incidentally, you can call the NFA branch of the ATF directly to get the status of your paperwork @ 304-616-4500.

What info do you need to provide to get the status?

Thanks

Your name and the serial number. If you're doing a Form 4 transfer, the transferor must circle DO in block 9 on the form.

I cant understand it, he called me two weeks ago a told me my new toy was ready for pick up, and Ive called every other day since, Ive left three or four messages and have been unable to get a hold of him, he has not so much as called be back. Doesn't get anymore frustrating than this, to have waited this long its ready for pick up and i cant.

I have waited almost 3 months since he cashed my check....and I don't think my paperwork has been submitted.

I'm in the same boat....repeated attempts to contact....to no avail. The worse part is...I actually spoke with him a week or so ago, and he said a customer just arrived to pick up a can. He said he would check on my paperwork and "call me right back." Still nothing...........

HKp30?

Did you send him a personal check for him to forward to the ATF for the stamp?

If so has it cleared?
Do you have a copy of the paperwork?
Know the serial number?
Was the can in stock?

If the can was in stock, your check cleared atf, and you have the serial number, call 304-616-4500
Ask them for the status of your Form 4. Give them the serial number. They will ask your name and a question from the paperwork. Usually the dealer name. It will be M3 LTD, LLC for Bryan.
They should be able to give you the status.

Even if the can was in-stock it is going to take longer than 3 months. I'd say closer to 4-5 months. However it should be in the system and trackable from the time the check has cleared the bank.

This year I have seen 1-3 weeks from the time the received it to the check clearing the bank. 4-6 weeks from check cleared to pending. 4-10 weeks between pending and approved. It will all depend on the examiner assigned. I know the one that did mine is not the same one that was assigned to Bryan earlier in the year.

If your can was not in stock, what was it? He still could be waiting for the manufacturer to ship.

Not defending Bryan in any way. Seems to be a good guy but communication has been an issue regardless of what is going on. I also think there is an overwhelming number of 1st time NFA buyers checking with him to see what the status is. http://www.politesocietyinc.com/cgi-bin/imcart/read.cgi?article_id=24&sub=13 has been having similar problems and posted this.
FWIW, I found calling him early in the mornings gave the best results 6:30-7:00.

It is the price we pay for dealing with a company that is one deep for a price advantage. Hopefully he’ll get something worked out.

PM me if I can help, I've had 4 forms clear in the last couple of months.

Thanks for the advice Map Professor, I do appreciate it.

I did send a personal check for him to forward to the ATF for the stamp. Initially, I sent a copy of the paperwork. Bryan called to request the originals and I sent them the next day Priority Mail. I do have a copy of all the paperwork including the can serial number (so I assume it was in stock).

The same day I also sent a form 1 to the ATF. As you mentioned, my check cleared in about 2 weeks (About 3 months ago) and it is now in the Pending status.

However, my second check that was sent to Bryan, has never cleared and ATF still does not have the serial number in their system.

I agree, Bryan always is nice and polite WHEN i can get ahold of him. Also, I have no problem with the wait time. The problem is....repeatedly being told "I'll call you back" and it never happening.

Thanks!

It may not have been in stock. I know at least on some of the cans he gets the serial number before they are in stock. The AAC can I got was that way. I bought mine about 4-5 weeks prior to him receiving it. He has to hold the paperwork until the item is in his hands.

True as that may be, It would only take him 2 minutes to let me know that. Plus I have spoken with him several times since he received my paperwork....and it was never mentioned that it was out of stock. It is a Tac65 .22 can.

I hope everything works out for everyone, including Bryon, and I'm not just saying that because my Colt SBR is sitting at his house somewhere and I have no clue as to it's status, other than being very sure it won't be mine in time for my class this fall :( I had a heckuva time getting ahold of him when it got transferred to him in May and it was well into June before we were able to connect and the paperwork back to him -- now you guys have me worried that it may not have even been sent off yet. When I was having trouble getting ahold of him, he never mentioned his family stuff so I had no idea. He was probably as frustrated with me bugging him as I was not being able to get ahold of him -- and I think (hope) that this is all just a misunderstanding due to him keeping his private business to himself. He'd save himself a lot of headaches if he could put a note up on his website about what's going on or something, and that would keep new customers from calling and let old customers know what's up without piling on...

I completely agree.

I don't know anything about his situation, but I believe that if you run a business you are obligated to communicate with your customers.
People should not be waiting around in the dark, not knowing anything about the status of their orders or products.

That said, I know absolutely ZERO about the paperwork timeframe with NFA stuff.

I hope this works out well for everyone, and I have no inclination to believe that Bryon is a crook....but he seriously should take a few minutes and put an update about something...somewhere...for his customers to read.

I'm pretty sure he's not a crook but I'm pretty positive that he has crappy communication. I know my silencer will eventually be here, but it is kind of irritating that when I paid him up front, he was the easiest guy to get ahold of, but after he got my money he is basically impossible to talk to. And I know I'm not the only one.

I will never purchase from him again because its impossible to get ahold of him.

I can understand the frustration of the folks here.

I can also tell you that you wont find a better person than Bryon, he is top shelf all the way. He must have some severe issues on his plate behind all of this. I am certain he is very appreciative of the patience afforded him by all of those waiting.

HKp30
07-07-2009, 11:53 PM
I can agree with Shoot Summ, despite my frustrations here.

For Bryon's benefit, and others, I should publicly let it be known that i'm not weary of getting ripped off. Every time I have spoken to him, he's been extremely nice....not to mention, as we all know, he has a "top notch" reputation.

Let's just hope he gets things worked out soon, and contacts each of us who are waiting.....

Bryon is an awesome guy just to talk to. It is worth the wait just for that simple reason alone. I've been patiently waiting since May on a call back just to order a can, and it doesn't bother me a bit. Last I heard his father was very ill, and my momma taught me that family was much more important than some toys I might be wanting. I'll be waiting right here patiently still when he gets his affairs in order. Bryon has earned a lifetime customer in me.

Just as a heads up..

I submitted paperwork back in Feb, check cleared the ATF in the middle of March and I got a call from Bryon yesterday (July 8) saying that he's received my approved Form 4 back.

BUT! He is in the middle of some National Guard training out of state and wont be back until the 22nd.

I just wanted to post this so people may understand why they've had troubles this week getting in touch with him.

NO EXCUSE!
Returning phone calls is much more important than any of that military stuff. Its a cop out.

Ranger216, I'm very, very sorry that your can has not gotten into your hands much sooner!

I should be back in Oklahoma next Tuesday and you can come and pick it up as soon as it's convenient for you.

If any of ya'll are trying to reach me by phone, I'm up at Ft McCoy in Wisconsin (doing my Summer Annual Training with my Army Reserve Unit) and my cellphone coverage on the training area in nill.

I will have e-mail access for part of this next week, before we redeploy so that's the best way to contact me.
