I am currently looking for a new backup weapon. I really like the size and weight of the kahr pm series. The nod is going to the 9mm as the lower recoil. I have heard the .40's recoil is bad. Anyone have any experience with either? Also has any one seen the new synthetic .45. Is it small enough for pocket carry?

I normally use a Glock 27 for CCW but a wanted one a touch smaller to use once and awhile - saw the Kahr. I tried the MK40 and the MK9 (I am a big .40 fan - have the G23 also) but I really liked the MK9 better. You can't go wrong either way, I was totally impressed with them both!

I think the PM40 is too much for 99% of shooters. I include myself in that group. Its just too small for a high-powered cartridge like the 40.

Just recently purchased a PM9 and I love it. My Hedley pocket holster and mag carrier are supposed to be here by the end of the week!

I have the PM9 and I love mine. Perfect little pocket gun. All I need is the Hedley holster for it now.

My brother has the P40 covert and it is downright painful. I couln't hardly finish the magazine it hurt so bad. After I finished the mag, I handed it right back to him and I told myself I would never put myself through that torture again.

Now, the K40 is actually a delight to shoot. The PM40 scares me............

I carry the P9 and wife has a PM9 that she will carry when her app goes through.

I find that the P9 is so flexible I can carry in most short pockets with noholster and cargo short side pockets are even easier.

I am really satisfied with the P9 for reliability and accuracy as well. My .02

If you use light ammo like 135,165 in the pm40 it should make it have less recoil at least that is what KAHR said.

I've owned/carried the PM9 for over a year now.
Couldn't be happier!
Be sure and break it in.

P45 is a litle too big for pocket carry, the pm9 is the perfect pocket gun, I want one pretty bad.
I had a P40 and Id hate to fire the pm40.
youd better hit a bad guy with the first shot, cause who knows where it will be pointed after that.

Oh, I was getting ready to ad my 2 cents and saw the date on this thread.

I still don't like the P40 or PM40. OUCH!! I'd want hogue grips and some shooting gloves!

I have been crrying a PM9 for about 8 months. I am glad I went with the 9mm
Firning with the 124+P+ hollowpoints is quite a handfuk. I cant imagine it with .40.
