J.P. and all the other 9mm fans are gonna love this one.
they have added a new clause this year to include semi auto handguns as legal means of taking deer.
Copied from wildlifedepartment.com
Semi-automatic handguns: Chambered for any centerfire ammunition with a 100-grain or heavier soft-nosed bullet and having a cartridge case size of .40 caliber or larger (includes 10 mm, .357 Sig., and 40 cal. or larger) and a minimum barrel length of four (4) inches.

Time to break out the .45. Does someone, anyone, have some land they can let me hunt?? All I want is a doe and I'll split the meat with you. The private land I hunt is archery only and I rifle hunt public land, can't really use a .45 at either of those.

.357 Sig is smaller in caliber than .40, as the names would suggest.

Yes that's true, but the regulation states the case, not bullet, has to be of .40 caliber or larger.
