I am interested in the S&W 1911 that come with Crimson Trace laser grip(SKU 108296 & 108295). I think the laser is pretty cool and intimidating. Anyone know anything about it? Is it a reliable and accurate? Is it full of MIM parts? Anybody know of any other 1911 that come with laser from factory?

I got to shoot that gun at the H&H expo last weekend. It was very cool. The gun shot very well. The laser wasn't adjusted right, so it shot about 6 inches from where you aimed it! It did have a good grouping where it hit the target. Once that thing is zeroed in right, I think it would be very accurate.
My dad has the original s&w 1911 and the new 1911sc. Both are reliable and accurate guns. I wouldn't hesitate to buy one!
By the way, I think the gun was $899 at H&H.

Kimber will have Crimson Trace laser grips available on some models by the end of the year! You may want to wait and see what they're gonna do before you spend money.
It's kinda hard to find a new 1911 without MIM parts anymore. At one point in time, Kimber and Springfield were buying MIM parts from the same contractor! Kimber changed all that by building their own facility for the small parts.
I've stopped worrying about the whole MIM thing, anyway. Several years ago, I acquired a complete MIM fire control system and put in one of my match pistols. I shot it a lot. Really a lot. After 25,000 rounds the pistol was still functional, but it wouldn't hold a trigger job anymore. I get about 50,000 rounds of a forged parts kit, generally. Very few people will ever burn enough ammo to find out first hand that MIM parts aren't as good as the stuff that costs way more....................

Not sure about the S&W, but I used to rent a 1911 with after market crimson traces at Bob Howard's range. Thing was always dead on and hella cool.

You can get the crimson laser grips on eBay. Never hurts to look there and try to save a few bucks.

I'd liketo put some crimson trace grips on my sig 220. That is my bedside gun. I think a burglar would stop in their tracks if they found themself with a red dot on their chest!

Burglar might stop in their tracks if they found themself with a 45acp round in their chest. :wink2:

My Dad has 2 1911's (S&W and Kimber Pro CDP) he has CT Laser grips on both and they are both dead on and are very cool. Only drawback is the lense needs to be cleaned periodically due to gunk build up. He bought his grips as an add on to the S&W b/c he got it before the new one came out with them already on it. You save about hundred bucks when you buy the combo.

I would get a S&W any day over a new Kimber. I would say get the S&W and see if you like it and then you can always upgrade to the CTC grips later.
