In this forum you see quite a bit about holsters but very little about belts. Hndgun carry should be a system approach. A good holster, a good belt and mag carrier. A cheap belt will not let a good holster not do its job. It needs a
good stable platform. For leather I have a custom made double layer horse hide belt. If I am wearing something like 511 pants I have a wilderness instructor belt. I have been looking at some of the new synthetic dress belts lately. What type of belts do you wear??

I use the Hellweg Dress Belt. Its double thickness and only $38 from Brownell's. Its a better belt than any of the Galco's or Sparks belts I own for carry.

It's not synthetic, but I recently got a kydex lined leather belt from Looper Leather right here in OKC.

Bad ass, and inexpensive. I think they do dress belts too.

I checked Brownells and they are $58.
Maybe they went up or were on sale?

Leos get whosale at brownells. You can save a bundle on some stuff. Other stuff you can get cheaper on the net.

All my instructors belts are from the wilderness. I have tried the reinforced and the 5 stitch and found that really it is not needed. Their basic belt is more than stiff enough. In fact my underbelt for under my duty gear is one of the 1 1/2 wilderness belts.

I wear Jeans and a Western belt a lot. Several years ago I had a custom belt made. I couldn't wear it out, but I did outgrow it. This year I had a larger one made. They aren't all that much more that any western belt in a store and they will outwear many. It works good for holsters as well as every day wear. http://www.knifeart.com/roweleather.html

You might try an akers dress belt or sports belt from mypolicestore.com. I really like the dress belt I bought $38.

SMS, how's that hybrid Kydex belt hold up? Winter is coming soon, and I'll need to be giving my IWB another try.

I have a nice Don Humme double thickness belt I bought for $50 that is really nice.

I usually wear the Wilderness belt though.

My daily wear is a belt made by Aker. It is black leather with a nice looking silver buckle. It has a center plastic reinforcement piece I think. It is made for holding up a holster and what not. Very nice IMHO. I've also had it for almost 2 years. This is one of the few things I bought from Galls. Aker happened to make the only Cuff/OC Spray case I could find at the time. I've been happy with both.

I switched to a Tucker Gunleather Bullhide belt.

Hey Mons Meg, I missed your post sorry....

The hybrid is holding up good, much better than even double thick leather. No sagging or stretching. I love it, and for the price you can't beat it.....Looper has some sizes and colors in stock but they can build whatever you want.

The added bonus for me is supporting a local company that has been around for a long time.

Guys, you are missing out on one of the best belts in the nation if you are not buying locally. My buddy, Bart Looper is the third generation owner of Looper Leather. He has a patent pending on a leather wraped kydex belt. His market for this is plain-clothed police, but I wear one daily for general wear. I must say it is the best belt I've ever owned.
The store is located on the southside of OKC just off of I-35.

ETA: I just now read the entire post, at least I'm not the only one who knows about them!

$35 sounds about right....they have great customer service too.

I messed up when measuring what size I needed and they took the belt back no questions asked and made me another one in the correct size. No "restocking" fee or any other internet business crap, just a smile and a "no problem".

Did you deal with Bart, Lisa or Danny(Bart's dad)?
