I plan on hunting this year for the first time, and was just wondering how much deer processing usually ranges from and where are some good places around the OKC area to have deer processed. Thanks

Ive seen $50-70 a deer, depending on the place, and the cuts wanted; not counting jerky or sausage.

Thats about right, BUT dont get the sausage and jerkey made at the processer, make it yourself, it is in-expensive to make, I can help you with recipes.

If you want soem summer sausage, get some of the deer ground into hamburger, for jerkey, have some of it sliced for jerkey, the rest you can do yourself.

Last year I paid $70 for the deer, and $3 a pound for jerky and summer sausage, at Schones Butcher Shop in Canute.

I think we paid 65 or so this year. Definately make the jerky and sausage yourself. I just bought a meat grinder and vacuum sealer so i will be doing my own processing from now on. :)

Get this DVD and do it yourself its to easy not to. John Brinkmans Game Processing. The best dvd and couple it with the DO All Buck Buster knife which is what is used in the dvd along with a fillet knife and you have yourself the setup. He just lays the deer on a table and works from there so no A frame and hoist needed. You can pay for a good vacuum sealer and meet grinder in 2 deer and your meet is sealed for freshness for 3 years or better where all you get from the processor is meat packing paper.
