J.P. Post some pics of your new carry set up. You have some side profile pics of you wearing the CTAC; I was curious if you could do the same thing with the Versa Max II.

Also, were you ever able to try out a Watch Six for comparison?

Thanks bud!

I actually don't have a VM2 yet or I would surely post pics.
I borrowed one from an OSA member for a few weeks,to try,so I wouldn't have to drop the cash on another failed holster experiment.
The VM2 is as good as it gets,IMO.
They conceal so much better than the CTAC that you are allowed a few more clothing options.

When are you will your VMII be in? Just let me know, I always hear people speak to how great a holster this is, but have yet to see a pic with someone wearing it.

I have had mine on order since June 14th!! I called a week ago and they said they just finished May's orders - mine is still 1 & 1/2 months away!! I'm so impatient but I knew that it would be that long just wanted some custom work on it!! Can't wait!!

I haven't ordered it yet because of my recent medical bills. :(

www.lasports.biz has the VM2 in stock but the tradeoff for short turnaround is about a $30 premium.

If you order the vm2 from lasports, you'll get it in 2 or 3 days! You will pay more, but you won't have to wait 3 months either. Thats only $10 per month if you look at it like that........

My camera took a big Sh1t on me... or I would. Might be able to borrow a friend's camera though. To be quite honest I don't see how someone could not like these rigs.

But they also don't carry anything custom - like the sharkskin :nolike:

It will be worth the wait!!

I found an Alessi for the 19, so I think I'm going to sell my UCR for the 19 to pay for it! I can't believe I'm doing it, but my wife isn't very happy with me spending another $80 for a holster. At least if I sell one, it will pay for most of it.

I don't have any experience with IWB, but I'm thinking about trying it when late fall/early winter comes.

The leather looks thick and heavy compared to the kydex models I've seen. Is this just my imagination. I want something thin/light if it's IWB.

Which do you recommend for somebody who isn't afraid to sweat, heavily?

The leather holsters *are* generally thicker and heavier than most Kydex holsters but to what degree depends on the actual model.
This milt Sparks VM2 is the best I've ever tried (and i've tried a bunch).
Very comfortable.
IWB is the best way to carry,in my opinion.
more secure and more concealable.
I can conceal the G23 under a dark t-shirt or heavy white t-shirt with the VM2.
I usually wear ann undershirt of some sort so sweat is never an issue with me.
If i do wear a holster against bare skin,I would prefer leather because it is more comfortable than kydex.
The VM2 is backed with horsehide which supposedly resists sweat better than cowhide leather.I'll probably never find out though.

Another great holster is Tucker Gunleather's "The Answer" which is half kydex/half leather.

If I were going to go back to Kydex, the Comp-tac Gurkha would be my first choice.

Another great leather IWB holster is the mitch rosen ARG
http://www.mitchrosen.com/product_line/holsters/inside_waistband/ARG.jpg

I might even prefer it over the VM2.

DrBaker
09-12-2005, 05:43 PM
It doesn't look as secure with only one belt hook.

For somebody who sweats alot, I'm afraid I would ruin a leather IWB.

J.P.
09-12-2005, 05:57 PM
They tolerate sweat way more than you would think.

The ARG is actually pretty secure despite the use of only one loop.
I tried one briefly and like it a lot. They are slightly more comfortable because there is slight movement due to the lack of a front loop.

bulbboy
09-12-2005, 06:03 PM
About what do those ARG's run ($)? They look interesting..

J.P.
09-12-2005, 06:15 PM
ARGs are $135 and up depending on options. The slimline versions start at $190
VM2s are $90 and up but the wait is verrrrrry looooong.
You can find VM2s online for $125-$135 with no waiting.
I'm not sure about the wait time for the mitch rosen products but I'm sure it's long as well.
There are probably vendors that have them in stock already,as with the VM2.

Out of all of your holsters - what has been your favorite for IWB? OWB?

I've tried many IWB's: sidearmor, ucr, vm2, watch 6, sidearmor 4th generation, comp-tac, Alessi PCH, and probably others I can't think of right now.

For IWB, I'll have to go with the UCR in kydex. Overall, for me, I will have to go with the Sparks VM2. I like the Alessi PCH (it was more expensive than the vm2!), but it moves around on me and I have to keep readjusting it during the day, even with the belt as tight as I can get it. The vm2 doesn't move at all.

OWB, Alessi CQC/S, without question! It conceals so well, its almost like IWB. My dad has about 5 of these and loves them!

I have a VM2 on order (13 weeks and waiting) but I need another one - I'll check that Alessi out. Thanks! Does it come in orange and black?
