My oldest, 8 years old.... She is becoming a nagging shooter, wants to shoot all the time (can't say I really mind at all). I told her about different competitions, ie. bench rest, sillouhette (sp) etc. She is showing an interest in sillouhette, so I suppose I'll buy small bore metal sillouhette targets for practice.
My main question is.... are there any sanctioned junior or youth sillouhette shoots in the area? I'm guessing by next spring she'll be nagging to do this. I guess I'll be willing to drive to OKC or Tulsa if those are the only places.
Right now she is shooting her Chipmunk, but has an eye on my Ruger 10/22 (not much Ruger left in it). What rifle's can be used in these matches for youth? What are the ages?
I'm going to try and contact the local 4H shooting guy for info, but doubt there is anything in this area. I appreciate any info that can be given along with contact info.

Red Castle Gun Club has a good junior shooting program.

I second that! Red Castle i know had an excellent youth program a few years back. If they still do it is probably even better.:)

Red Castle is north of Sand Springs on Hwy 99. I think they also use their Junior Indoor range on 11st.

I did talk with a couple guys from the range, Garfield County range. They said there is a very good possibility there will be shoots for the kids next year.
