I received an email saying that U.S. Shooting Academy is going to have its first IPSC match this Saturday. I haven't been to this new range, but it's the one where they had the IPSC nationals. There doesn't seem to be anything about the match on their website, but there are directions:
www.usshootingacademy.com/contact.html
The email said sign in at 9, match at 10.
edited to add:
I thought it would be a good idea to paste the note from Kelly Raglin in here.
Hello,
I would like to announce United States Shooting Academy will have our first
monthly USPSA match this Saturday November 25th. Sign will start at 9:00
and walk-thru will start at 10:00. We will have six stages approximatley
150 rounds. If you need directions you will find them on the website
www.usshootingacademy.com. I would like to wish everyone a happy
thanksgiving. Hope to see you at the match.
Kelly Raglin
Cool beans.
Word has it that they will also be opening an IDPA match there as well (sometime after the first of the year)

I can't make this match but I'm going to try and make one of them soon. Since I'm actually a USPSA member now. :)

I finally paid up my dues... Looks like a Team Delta Mike road trip!
Gotta get my qualifiers!
The 4th Saturday of every month clashes with OilCapital IDPA.

that's not good then, I haven't came up for Oil Capital yet but intended to last month. I think the 4th Sunday is Shawnee which sometimes shoots cowboy but kind of a fun small IPSC style match most of the time. The first Saturday is OKC Gun Club, the 2nd weekend is Tulsa IPSC at both Red Castle and Oil Capital, the 3rd Sunday is Duncan for those who go to that, and I think Duke shoots IPSC twice a month. I guess we may have to choose between IDPA and IPSC on the 4th Saturday and open up that big can of worms again. I just like to shoot, I can stink up either type equally well. :nolike:
I'll be going tomorrow to USSA. Should be a good day weather wise.

Would you want to go tomorrow even with the game? I may have to work tonight, if I do I can't make it tomorrow. But if I don't I'll go up there.

That is too bad that it conflicts with Oil Capital IDPA, at least 10 months of the year. Oil Capital moves their match to the third Saturday in November and December to avoid holiday conflicts, and Red Castle IDPA (normally third Saturday) shuts down after the October match.
I would prefer they'd have the new group on the first Saturday, the same day as OKC Gun Club, because that's a little too far for me to go most of the time anyway. But it's their club, so it's up to them.
I guess the first Sunday wouldn't conflict with anything I know of, though I don't know the schedule for the various Cowboy Action Clubs in the area. I don't really like to shoot on Sunday, because that's the only day my wife doesn't work, so it's our time together, and most of the time it's a church day, too.
Of course, only time will tell if they do have regular matches. I'm sure there will be times the matches will conflict with their training schedule.
I'm looking forward to seeing this new range tomorrow. I understand it's pretty fancy.

I think they'll get a lot of OKC area shooters if they don't conflict with OKC Gun Club. Quite a few Tulsa shooters come to OKC because the stages there are always well put together. The new site is very nice, I watched the nationals for a couple of days. I'm looking forward to shooting it, whatever day they end up having it each month.

Match fee was $15.00.
The match had 6 stages from the Open/Production Nationals with 48 shooters. That's a great turn out for their first run. Looking forward to the next one!

Nope you beat me by just a few points. Stages 4 and 5 I got dead last. :( Not my best performance.

Lets just put it this way. One sage I ran out of mags and had to stop then I had to reload on an 8 shot classifier for the last shot.
The classifier was the last stage for me. Luckily this was my first classifier that counted so I'm starting off with a bang.
Here you watch in and laugh about it.
Stage 6 (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-1418165359487878669) This one is Fluffy's Revenge 2.
It goes like this. Miss, steel, miss, miss, miss, steel, alpha, alpha, alpha, alpha, alpha, **** it's jammed, no **** I need to reload, don't grab the third mag you idiot grab the first one, put it in the hole, release the slide, alpha.
After everyone left the stage I just stood there and said WTF?

Are the scores posted somewhere yet? I was going to wait around until everything was scored but once we tore down, I headed back in the vain hope OSU would pull it off.

Shot in our squad yesterday with a slick looking Glock limited gun, hard chromed slide, magwell, and a nice guy to boot.

It was an excellent match. Congratulations to James Broom, Kelly Raglin, and the whole USSSA crew. Some of the stages were left from Nationals.
That is going to be one awesome facility when it's finished. I can't wait to see what they can do with the 360 degree shooting area.
I did not shoot particularly well, but I didn't finish last, didn't have any procedurals or no shoots, and was not DQed or injured. That makes it good day for me.

No. Unfortunately, last place was reserved for my son, who had a couple of bad stages. Then again, he only turned 12 the Saturday before, and shoots a revolver.
This was a great match, and I hope to be able to attend it regularly. It currently conflicts with our ICORE match at OKC, but I'm hoping to get that situation remedied.
The USSA range is impressive, and will be even more so when it is finished. The stages were great, and the people nice. That match is definitely worth doing every month. We are becoming blessed with an embarassment of riches when it comes to opportunities to shoot here in Oklahoma. :thumb:

The 4th Saturday also conflicts with Oil Capital IDPA, which has had that SAME 4th Saturday in Tulsa as their regular monthly date since 1997. It attracts 30-40 shooters and is growing.
For USPSA shooting, statewide the 4th Sunday is completely open. The USPSA Club at Duke (far western OK) shoots on the 1st Sunday. They are about 4 road hours away from Tulsa, so potentially that date is also open on this east side of the state. Neither of those dates conflicts with any other metro Tulsa USPSA or IDPA matches. Some Tulsa-area shooters also enjoy the USPSA matches in Arcadia (1st Saturday) and Old Fort (Ft. Smith AR) shoots 3rd Sunday. A 1st or 4th Sunday at USSA would be the best of all worlds; the maximum opportunity of places to shoot pistol for the maximum number of shooters!

Sash - your son did fine. It was a pleasure to have him in the squad. I was in the same squad with you and Ken and your son. (I was the guy with Glock.) He was safe, planned the stages through well, and shot well. It was a pretty tough bunch there that day, mostly pretty experienced shooters, and it's not a mark of shame to finish last, which I have certainly done before. It's great to see young guys and girls picking up the sport, because we're a pretty old bunch generally.
Thanks for the kind words! Chris just loves to shoot and doesn't really mind coming in last. Usually, though, he manages to beat a few "grown-ups." What he would really like is for more kids to come shoot matches. I can't talk any of his friends' parents into letting me work with them. I would pony up a gun and gear, if only we could find an adventurous parent/kid combo.
