I'm in the market for an ar15. Any local suggestions and what kind of price am I looking at?

Dad bought one at Outdoor America. I think it was around $850. You can spend as much as you like. The last few I've looked at were Bushmaster's and they were like $1,100

All of the big gun stores have them. Academy carries bushmaster now. I think it's about $850+. Brigadoons has great deals on OA, but only for non-Oklahoma residents (which sucks for us okies).

Do you know what type you want? Lots of buying and selling between members here.

I'm not really sure just yet. I'm still looking at all the options so far. The bushmaster does seem to be the best over armalite. I know I don't want the handle just the mount so I can use a scope or enhanced sights.

I bought my first AR on GunBroker (www.gunbroker.com) from Atlantic Firearms (http://www.atlanticfirearms.com).

I may be dumping a lot of guns in the next month or so, including a couple of AR's. (Wife is due in 2 months, and has no maternity leave :grumble: ).

What kind are you looking for?

I'm slowly working through my first AR build and have been led to AR15.com's Equipment Exchange by those that know. Some of the best deals in the US pass from there.

PS- Start a list of the items/ components you want or are willing to settle for. A "Kit" rifle and a stripped lower receiver bought seperately will save some. Be ready to jump on good deals from the EE, otherwise somone else will.

Don't forget all of the add on crap & curb feelers, which can easily run the price over 1K.

To each his own, but I prefer relatively simple AR's. First build- 24" bull barreled varmint with (Probably) Super Sniper fixed 16X scope. Next- National Match Iron sighted, DCM legal for competition.

I carried an A1, A2 and M4 in the Army, even had all of the crap (ACOG, IR Laser pointer) attached to the M4 for a while, but removed it ASAP, just wasn't worth the weight unless directing fire which was (Very) rarely my job. Since retiring, I have no interest in the "Operator" style AR's. To each, his own. Kind of like barbies for big boys.. :wink2:

man bought my bushie A2 at OA in 95' for $580 otd, built my last one, an A4 carbine w/entry stock and eotech for $790, if you shop around, its posible to put one together for less than six bills, my brother built one last year on a oly lower with dpms lpk he picked up on gunbroker for $90 and a complete rock river upper assembly from brigadoons for $420 and a 6 pos. stock and buffer assembly he traded for.

XChosen, I see you live in Mustang. Have you stopped by Mustang gun and pawn? I bought my new in box Bushmaster there.

BIG +1 for building a "kit" gun! Thats how I built mine!! No it doesn't have a little pony (colt) and a little grass snake (bushmaster) on the side of it but hey, its alot cheaper and just as good! IMO :wink2: And another BIG +1 for the ARF.com Equipment Exchange!! And be ready to jump on something when you see what ya want!

Man if you just lived closer it wouldn't be worth your time to put one together unless you were useing used parts............... :wink2:

Well you would have to push two pins in............:comfort:

acman, I wouldn't mind having one of those lowers you got, but right now my pockets are a wee bit short on lint, but I put the word out to a few dudes that might be interested, told them to have a look at the pic you posted.

Where is the best place to get some prices on a stripped Bushmaster lower?

Websites , stores ,or give me a rough estimate.

If you can't find anything in the classifieds here, try www.randgfirearms.com .

I didn't see any lowers at randgfirearms, I did find one for $179.99 at http://www.impactguns.com/store/BM-REC-S.html but would rather buy local.

Just send an email to Gary. Tell him what you want and he'll get you a quote. He said he mainly deals in RRA and Bushy. He will likely match or beat a competitors price.

He don't sell Bushmaster. Only RRA....but it was $125.

$125 local is lot better than $180 in another state. I think RRA makes great ARs.

I should have clarified myself better. The Bushmaster has the room for the auto sear to just drop in.
