OK, thanks to David E and Lewis, we can have a snubby match at H&H Sunday night, January 14th.
If you are definitely in, let's get an accurate head count. Fee will be about $15 with the rules as follows subject to David and Lewis agreement since they are the experts in this area:
small frame revolver such as j frame, sp-101-, detective special, taurus, charter arms, etc. No k frames or larger.
barrel length of 2 inches or less
no adjustable sights but lasers allowed
stages or strings of fire will be 10 rds or less with any reload type such as speedloaders, speedstrips, dump pouches etc.
course of fire wil begin with gun on table or in the hand.
minimum caliber .38 special.
David, Lewis, I'll try to track confirmed shooters and get you a number if that's ok. All you guys and ladies who pack those j frames around come on out for a good time.

Lewis is fine with the proposed rules, PM me or post here if you are definitely going to shoot or bring shooters so we'll have an idea of how many. Anyone who doesn't have a snubby can use mine if you shoot factory, plated bullets in .38 special. We'll be starting with the gun in hand or on table so you won't need a holster. I think David is willing to loan his as well. The total match will be around 50 rds.
My son and I are definitely in. I'm assuming you don't really mean 2" or less on barrel length, as the SP101s all have either a 2-1/4 or 3-1/16" barrel. I'm happy excluding the 3-1/16" guns, but 2-1/4 seems ok.

50 rds of it. If you don't miss, 50 is the minimum that will be required.
If anyone needs to borrow a snubby, please provide a box of FACTORY ammo!

I would be in, except my little .32Mag 431PD Smith is offended by the caliber requirement.

Sorry Lilysdad, we'll loan you a man's gun if want to bring a box of factory ammo to shoot in it. :)
Hey guys this particular thread is for those who are definitely in or have questions about the format that haven't already been answered. thanks

I'm not a member of IDPA, will I need to be to participate? I have never shot any kind of IDPA or other competitions before. I'm reading the IDPA rules right now.

It's usually a USPSA match, but you won't need to be a member to shoot.

IDPA no longer exists at H&H.
It's IPSC/USPSA matches now.

I had made an error on the date, it is Sunday the 14th, not the 7th. Original post edited to correct. Sorry about that. Gives us all an extra week to practice.

I guess I'm in for the snubby match. I would much rather shoot the regular match and the snubby one on the side. I will need to barrow a gun of course. :)

It might help your count to have the format announced on the Section mailing list.

thanks, I don't know if Lewis will want to change the web site for H&H to reflect just this one match possible format but not a bad idea. If we get 20-25 shooters total, things will go pretty smooth for an indoor match. As it gets closer and everyone helps spread the word, I think we'll have plenty of shooters. I did just send a message to the webmaster at Bentworks asking them to post an announcement.

No,it will prove whether or not you follow the forum rules and whether or not you act like a general asshat that nobody wants around.
That's all it will prove.
Nothing more,nothing less.
AGAIN,if you have any issues, take them directly to the staff rather than taking a poke here and there.
Now...back on topic....................

I really think a snubby match would be a lot of fun and give those of us who carry 1 a chance to see how we shoot when a little stress is involved. Let's talk it up and get some more shooters. Remember, it will be starting with gun in hand or on table so no holster is needed. Both David E and I are willing to loan ours to anyone who wants to shoot it as long as you provide your own factory ammo. If David E doesn't decide laser's are not allowed, mine has a Crimson Trace grip on it that's dead on at 7 yards. I've got at least 2 fairly new shooters so we will have shooters of all levels. David has agreed to shoot standing on his head, holding his revolver with thumb and fore finger only so the rest of us will have a chance. :thumb:

Yes, I'll allow lasers, as I don't think they'll affect the outcome.
Besides, it'll be fun to see some dancing dots on the targets !

Sounds good, let's do random draw among all shooters, unless you want to kick in two of them:)
How about we have the first stage with the snubby in the pocket pretending we're in the parking lot where we've just been knocked to the ground by a crazed holiday shopper. :)
Just kidding you guys. Let's get some more shooters!

i'll bump that, i have an idea, but what targets, what scenarios? moving / still?
pstmstr
12-29-2006, 05:55 AM
David and Lewis will determine the stages. There will most likely be paper USPSA style targets, no shoot paper, etc. No steel and no moving targets. Scenarios may range from sitting at a table with gun on table, at buzzer pick up the gun and engage targets. It won't be anything to tricky but will be a lot of fun. No one will laugh at your mistakes, we all make plenty of our own. I'm going to H&H sometime Saturday or Sunday to pracice, if anyone wants to come out and shoot mine to see how it shoots, you're welcome to. It will probaby be Saturday morning around 10 or so, PM me for more info.
