Now that AK's are dirt cheap again, I'm looking to get one. Can someone point out some of the better ones or things to look for or probably more important, what to stay away from?

I ordered mine a couple of days ago. It's a Romanian model that will accept High Cap mags, came with the cleaning kit, bayonet and 2 30rd mags. I got it for $375, which was a good deal in my opinion. Here is the supposed list of best to worst in terms of quality:
1) Russian
2) Bulgarian
3) Chinese
4) Polish
5) Hungarian
6) Madi(Egypt)
7) Romainian
They say that they all seem to work fine, but that the list goes more in terms of fit and finish of the weapon, not useability. Romanian seems to be the best value for what you get. I didn't want to spend alot of money on one, but got it for a SHTF situation like is happening down in NO. If you want a good place to start researching them, go to AK47.Net (http://www.ak47.net) . That sight seems to have all the info you could possibly need.
Also the ammo is pretty cheap for these things. I order 2000 rounds of Wolf ammo for $185.

I bought a romanian that takes hi caps too. It didn't come with a bayonet. $319 new and it was delivered to my house.

I thought you could only have them delivered to you if you had your FFL?

VEPR.
I have 2. They are a little heavier than a normal AK but you won't find a better AK.

He drove over and borrowed my phone to call in the "yellow form".
Excellent person to do business with.

Ah, he's local to OKC. I didn't realize that.
You think he'd drive to Tulsa. ;)

I don't think he'll drive to Tulsa, but he will ship it to your FFL.

Military Gun Supply has the old-style, hi-cap WASR-10 rifles with Tapco FCGs for $290. They have the threaded muzzle but no bayo lug.
