A good friend of mine who lives in Tulsa told me that in his Red Castle news letter it said they are going to be building an indoor range in Tulsa. Can't remember exactly where but it's right in the middle of the city I believe. He said his dues went up a little but you will get the indoor range for no extra charge. Should be a big welcome for you folks up there.

I was a member years ago when I live up there. I'm sure they have gone up a little but you have to pay an inetiation fee and then just the yearly renewal after that. It was for sure worth it, awesome range!

it's a 11th just West of Sheridan. it was the old Tulsa Firearms building. it's open now and any Red Castle member can use the indoor Tulsa facilities.

I think that is actually closer to 11th and Utica, Peoria. Okay East of there but can't remember the nearest main street. There is a railroad that crosses 11th, theres also a Flower Shop on the south side of the road, the Dodge dealership is close by. Its an old building that is unmarked a about 3 or 4 years ago my wife and I took a NRA Basic Pistol class there. We looked for it for about thirty minutes asked around and no one had any idea what we were talking about. Finally we found it but I can't remember how. It is an brown or red brick building that runs north and south. I think right now it is open limited hours and is only like .22 and air rifle, pistol.

since you're soooooo familiar with that area, i believe it is across the street from Escapades. it is on the north side of 11th just West of Sheridan.

That building used to be "Mid City Sub" and after that a bar and grill owned by my cousin.
We had heard that it *used* to be a gun range years ago and thought that was really strange.
It changed hands many times since he owned it though.
That would be really interesting if it were turned back into a gun range.

go to Google Earth and put the pointer on 36 degrees 08'48.38"N and 95degrees 57'36.70"W. It is just south of 11th on Zunis.
11th and Zunis....Hmmm.
I'll report if I *ever* get back over to that side of town.

The location that Brennan desribed previously is the actual building location. The dues this year are 85.00 a year plus a initiation fee. When I was younger I personally thought I would NEVER join such a club, but now I realize its quite a bargain when you consider all the events you can shoot, in addition to meeting some really good people from time to time. Im personally fond of my rifle shooting, but I'll give IDPA a try once I get everything lined up for next year. If you have kids, they have a super Jr shooting program (btw.... we have had several Jr's shoot for college teams and military Academies). Im a mentor for a military school and take my cadet out there to blow ammo and practice technique.

As this message thread has progressed the location at 11th and Zunis is correct. For the history bug, this red brick 2 story building not quite a block south of 11th on the East side of Zunis was one of Tulsa's first electrical power generation stations, and then became an ice house before going the way of the dinosaur. Red Castle purchased it in the early 90's to ultimately convert into an indoor range. As of right how there are two ranges at this location. One is in the metal building just east of the red brick building, and it is limited to 22, air gun, and lead bullet bulls-eye pistol-type loads. Unfortunately, the general membership range use hours are something like Wed/Th/Fr 1130-1:30. The range in the brick building is still under construction. Not sure of the anticipated range open date, but I doubt it will be until late 2007 or possibly into 2008. When open it will be any pistol caliber and jacketed bullets will be OK. And the hours of operation will be far more liberal but for now no one knows just how liberal those hours are supposed to be. More news at 11, maybe?
any idea when the main pistol range will open?
any idea when the main pistol range will open?
I would guess no later than 2012

Peter 38 has it correct I believe.
I helped a few years ago with some concrete work there. They were running new sewer lines and did repair work on the walls and such.
I believe the meetings are there now but I never make them as I am always busy but I want to go.
I have enjoyed my time at the range. I have only met a few people I didn't like but the vast majority of the people there are really great. I love talking to the old timers. Many of the people are so friendly we talk and sometimes we take turns shooting each others guns, etc.
Many many good people there! Great place all the way around. Many thanks to the directors for their hard work to keep it so nice!

next monthly meeting Monday June 29th 7pm
address 1115 south Zunis
1 block west of Lewis
You do not have to be a member to attend the meeting
come on out,
check out the progress on the range and find out about membership.
we now have 3 buildings at that location
1. Main building-19 point firing range (all done except air system) w/club offices-monthly meeting room.
2. 22 Jr range has been open for years-
3. building on 11th st along RR tracks- to be airgun ranges and class rooms
just puchased this one recently.
Note> this is a club not a business. most work on this range has been done by members voluntering their time. thats why its been slow-

I did my CMP qualification shoot there a few years back. They seemed like good folks but I haven't had a chance to get back that way. I'll have to go back and see them again.
