My wife and I have been shooting with a local PD (not Cushing PD)and was wanting to go to Tulsa Gun Club and shoot next week .But, I have never been to a range before and have some questions. They might be dumb ,so just humor me.
We both have CWL, can we carry in and then shoot? Or carry in range bag ?
Do you have to use their ammo? Is there a time limit that you can shoot?
And I thought about H and H the next time I'm in OKC.

Well, at H&H without a membership, I believe the price is $9.00 unless its gone up the last year or two. Targets are like .35 a piece. You can carry your gun into the range concealed or in a bag. You don't have to use their ammo. Unfortunately, their ammo is about $2-4 higher than other places. I want to help support the range, but when I can buy 9mm for $3.88 per box compared to their $7 or 8 bucks a box, you can understand.
H&H is a great range and their staff is great too! H&H doesn't have a time limit on their range.

I just shot out at Tulsa Gun Club yesterday! After July 1st the membership is $40 to finish the year (reg. $80 for whole year) + $15 membership fee. Then only $1 to shoot each time!! When you bring a guest just $1!! You can shoot anything you want - its says no guns in the clubhouse on their frontdoor. I wish it had an indoor for hot or rainy days but for the price its great! north on 169 - get off on 56th street north - left on mingo - immediate curving right - down a little bit on the left - . Not as bad as it sounds! Try it out. :gun1: :gun1:

I don't mind shooting outside and from other posts Tulsas Gun Club is the way to go. I'm not sure about the membership thing, as we might just go 1 or 2 times. That wouldn't really pay for itself.
We are planning to go next Friday.....anyone want to join?
Thanks bulbboy for the info and if you aren't busy we could send some down range.

Went to the free range in Wagoner today. It was great and we had it all to ourselves! You don't have to have Hunter's Safety (that's not posted ANYWHERE). They really cleaned it up since I was there last. We had a BLAST for several hours just shooting up random homemade targets. :woot:

(PS) I've heard from many people that Blazer aluminum ammo is "cheap **** ammo" and shouldn't be used. The guy I bought my ammo from yesterday told me that too. They don't even carry the aluminum; they only carry the brass Blazer which is pretty much the same price is Remington and Winchester. I love my gun and am too afraid to shoot ammo that I'm not familiar with or could be crap ammo. I've been sticking with my lovely Winchester. I know they're safe. What are your thoughts???

I had a great time out there shooting today too :). It was nice meeting you and John...I now want an AR after shooting his.
If I remember right....the first time you shot my G23 today it had the aluminum Blazer in it. I didn't have any problems with it today...as you know. We only had one problem all day at the range, but we wont go into that ;)

Sorry to do this but kinda a weird question. I am new in the state and back home we had free ranges to the public (most were on state parks). I was just wondering if there was anything like this here in Oklahoma possibly in the Tulsa area.
Thanks,
Cole

As far as I know, that is the only one around. I did hear from a buddy of mine today that there is a range in Okmulgee, but I am not sure where it is and have never been to it. The Wagoner range is fairly decent. From the table to the berm (sp?), it is 97 yards.

I have shot about 400 rounds of it in the last 2 weeks (9mm) and had zero problems. I asked about it on a couple of sites and 99% said it was great cheap ammo!

(PS) I've heard from many people that Blazer aluminum ammo is "cheap **** ammo" and shouldn't be used.
I've heard the same thing about Wolf ammunition. But hmmmm...I've shot 2500-ish rounds of it through my AR and probly 4X that amount through my AK without any problems. I'm skeptical about the whole "such n such name brand is crappy ammo" statements. :twocents:

Blazer is cheap but it is quality ammo.
Very accurate and very very clean.
I've put tens of thousands of rounds downrange.
Anyone who tells you Aluminum blazer shouldn't be used, doesn't really know what they are talking about.
Frankly,I'd trust it anyday of the week over either the Winchester White Box or the Remington.
If you believe the naysayers, you are simply depriving yourself of good quality bargin ammo.

A big +1 on that. I haven't had any problems with it, and I've shot probably 1000+ rounds of it out of my Glock 26. I have noticed it seems more flashy at night than WWB, but that's a relatively minor concern unless you are planning on using it for carry ammo.
Winchester 50-rd boxes of FMJ from Wal-Mart are almost as cheap as Blazer too here in Tulsa, so that's another alternative you have to try. IIRC Blazer from Academy is $3.86/box + tax, and Winchester is $4.26/box + tax, so about 40 cents more a box.
Try both kinds for yourself and you'll know for sure. More than likely you won't have any problems whatsoever with either. :)

Yeah, I've been using Winchester and it's really affordable also.
Thanks for all of the input! :)
Blazer is also $77/1000rd at Academy.
Be really careful and closely examine the Winchester Value ammo.
I have seen some really bad rounds in those packages.
(bullet setback.rolled cases,crushed brass,etc.)

Yep that's why I stopped using Winchester Dirty Box...... Blazer is cheaper and cleaner. I use Wolf for .45 most of the time. :flame suit on:

Yes.
I'm another blazer fan. Much much much cleaner than WWB. Of course being cheap also gets a big thumbs up.

What are you going to be wearing? so I can be looking for you.
I'll be wearing an OU shirt and hat and some shorts. I'll be with my dad, so we should be easy to spot.
Hope to see you there. :gun1: :gun1:
