Default XD Rust BS or Not

I see you guys asking about melonite finish on XD's. Has anyone really had one pre 2006 rust on them that was not due to improper maintenance? I own 2 pre melonite finish and never seen a speck on them. However one is NIB, the other has been shot a bunch and carried a bunch. Was it maybe a bad bunch that came thru factory or what? All the guys I know that own them have no rust either! Iam a glock guy but my XD is also a damn fine shooter and I have no rust stains on my hand after I shoot it.

I had a XD9sc rust after a 3 day camping trip in June when it was carried in a bellyband. Improper care? Maybe. I called Springfield Armory, explained that I expected better from a combat pistol and they Armory Coated every metal part free of charge, then reimbursed me for the shipping.

I carry my XD9 service in a leather holster every day. There is plenty of metal showing through the finish, but no rust.
