This is the republican sponsored bill. Not Barak Obama's proposal.

Note the 10 year expiration in the first paragraph.

Why are the Republicans sponsoring such a bill? I think it goes against what they have in their platform. They might think they are going to beat Barak Obama to the punch, but I don't think it will satisfy him.

This bill was introduced in June. It is dead for this session. At present, the Dims may have the votes to pass another one, but I personally don't believe they have political capital to do it.

It DID take "long" That bill was introduced several months ago. A superficial review will show that the bill never made it past committee.

They won't lose too many seats, the American people want an AWB.
(a lot of them do not clearly understand the implications of such a law...you know...the Zumbos)

I don't know if you've looked around lately but "Republican" does not equal "conservative".
There are precious few in the gonvernment that are truly pro-gun/2A

I don't think that this is a dead bill.
Last I checked it was introduced and passed to the Comitte on "crime, Homeland security, and Terrorism"...or something like that.
I saw no indication whatsoever that it was dead.
(I could be wrong tho')

At any rate....
We have at least two stickied threads about this already so this one's closed.
