Preferred Ammo ?

I've just test fired my newest pistol, a Ruger 22/45 MkIII Target Model. Have no complaints, function was perfect, but my groups at 25 yards did not impress me.
However, I only had one variety of ammo for today's outing; Federal Value Pack 36 grain HP. Not really match-grade.

Does anyone want to let me know their favorite ammo for .22 semi-auto handguns ? It's been years since I tried for real accuracy from a .22 handgun.

There's got to be a "sweetheart load" and I'll eventually find the one my gun likes, but it would save me some time and effort to hear what y'all like as well as what DOESN'T work well.

Jimmy's right on here with CCI Mini Mags; I also have good results with the Federal Automatch 40 grain; 325 rounds for like $14.00 at Wally World.

I'd say mini mags, but the Winchester M22 works just as well for me and its cheaper.

My WalMart has CCI Mini Mags in a ammo box with 1600 rounds for $98. I use them for carry classes so I needed a bunch.

In answer to your question, your gun may not like what someones identical gun likes, but as you said it is a starting point.

Minimags function well in anything but I've never seen them group best.

I've witnessed and shot some better than average groups with federal auto match as well.

In a couple of gun mag tests I've read lately Wolf has performed very well in the accuracy dep't. I've never shot any though.
