H.R. 1883 is the Secure Firearms Act of 2013. If it passes then you would get a Tax Credit for up to $1200 for a Gun Safe.

It's not a "tax credit", it's an allowed itemized deduction. Ends in Dec, 2014.

... if this passes I also predict a significant increase in the cost of gun safes. Anytime the government puts "more" in, everyone that can tries to scope "more +1" out. Think minimum wage and the like.

I bought my last gun safe in Washington State where they passed a bill waiving sales tax (9.9%). Now I'm in the market again but I won't be holding my breath for this.

It doesn't matter if you tell them, they can log into the friends of the nsa website and find out all about you and your possessions anyway.

IF it was a tax credit that would be interesting, but simply getting to write off the taxes on the cost of the safe doesn't really interest me.
