Wal Mart will take ammo back and exchange it for the proper stuff,,,
But you do have to be calm, firm, and willing to not go away.

The trick is to say "I asked for A and he handed me B.",,,
Then say you didn't notice until you got home.

There is no law about not taking ammo back,,,
It's just their store policy not to do it,,,
I don't care if they can't resell it.

Last year I asked for a 100 round pack of 12 gauge,,,
A birthday gift for a friends young son,,,
The girl put 20 gauge in the bag.

I had to get the manager out there and politely argue with him,,,
He whined about it but they did exchange the ammo for me.

Just three weeks ago I almost got out of the store with the wrong ammo,,,
I asked for Federal Brass 9mm and pointed to the box,,,
The girl packed the aluminum stuff in the sack.

Again I had to get the manager out there and talk with him,,,
He was polite so I was polite also but I wouldn't go away.

He said they couldn't re-sell it and I said I didn't care,,,
They charged me for brass ammo and I wanted brass ammo.

I thought it was a bit funny when he said they could lose their FFL,,,
I said just reach in the case and give me three boxes of what my receipt said.

Put the aluminum case stuff back or not,,,
Just give me what I asked for (and paid for) in the first place.

Retail store policies are just that,,,
A manager can overrule a policy if you don't back down.

Walmart usually donates returned ammo to the local PD.

Guess the manager doesn't realize that an FFL is not required for ammo sales.

I tried calmly to explain the difference, the receipt had 38 super on it.
She just wouldnt budge.....had a sign at ammo counter ..."no return on ammo"...and She stuck to it...ha

My fault, it got made right, ( just wish I'd have kept it a couple more month's)...8)

Now I'm really studious about buying ammo...8/

I believe our PD uses .45.....I mean , really who shoots 38 super...target shooters, competition , maybe?
I must say it was pretty sweet shootin out of that Colt

Walmart didn't care what caliber the PD uses. My dad used to work for the Lawton PD and used to pick up ammo from Walmart quite often when they called that they had some. If it was not something that fit an issued weapon it was given to officers for their personal weapons.

I may or may not have worked at Hell, but I always tried to educate the person on what the ammo was and just took it back. The PD loved me. A mistake is a mistake.
