95% (or more) of poor people in this country are poor because of the choices they made!!!! 99% of the people living on SS only are living that way because the failed to plan for retirement.

They always have an excuse. This has been going on for a LOT longer than most on this board have been alive.

There are always exceptions, but very few

That's blatantly false. That's a number/% that you completely made up.

While an individuals choices can lead to poverty, it's a vicious cycle that many cannot get out of. Not everyone gets the same opportunities. While some people can rise from the ashes not everyone can, regardless of how hard they try.

The first 2 sentences in #1 is about the best advice anybody can do in any situation. Listen more, talk less.

Unfortunately, so many times this motto is used by the leftists/liberals in order to nullify or shut down other's opinions. Maybe not in this case, but it is one of the tag lines that get thrown at me from white liberals fairly often.

Some of what she said may have validity, some of it may not, but it's all her opinion.

I get that. I think many people are astute enough to know the difference between people who legitimately want to have their concerns heard and those who want to shut others down. My comment is for those who legitimately want to be heard and would likewise treat others like human beings and not political obstacles.

Horse S***, Its a vicious cycle because of the stupid choices people make. There isn't one single kid in this country that doesn't have the opportunity to make his life better than that of his parents. The only deciding factor is for those that lack the intelligence to make it happen

Any kid that is intelligent enough to want have a better life than what he has, can do it. It starts with self determination and getting educated.

The next step is not having kids before you can afford them. That right there is the biggest reason that kids don't have opportunities!!!! That and not staying on the right side of the Law

Your kind of thinking is why kids stay poor into adulthood and through their lives
