How come OK wind turbines arent having issues? It was much colder here than TX. And how can it hurt output seeing that these turbines havent seen wind in 48 hours or more.
More Brietbart fake news

Colder here would keep the rain frozen to snow flake status and warmer there would make freezing rain.
I can see the frozen up issue and I found this .
Below are the top 5 states by wind power generation:

  • Texas (17,813 MW)
  • Iowa (6,212 MW)
  • California (6,108 MW)
  • Oklahoma (5,184 MW)
  • Illinois (3,842 MW)
Texas is generating a lot of wind power and many probably rely on that.
California is not putting out near as much as I thought they would be but the Solar produced energy is way up
there.
https://www.inspirecleanenergy.com/blog/clean-energy-101/which-states-produce-the-most-wind-energy

I also think if you generate power you need to also store it.
But that is another big mess with battery technology.

What percentage of taxes go to foreign assistance of any kind versus corporate subsidies? Just curious here.

Also, back on topic, this article is informative: https://www.texastribune.org/2021/02/16/natural-gas-power-storm/

This quote is especially relevant:

It's estimated that about 80% of the grid’s capacity, or 67 gigawatts, could be generated by natural gas, coal and some nuclear power. Only 7% of ERCOT’s forecasted winter capacity, or six gigawatts, was expected to come from various wind power sources across the state.

So by far the leading source of power there is natural gas which is majorly shut down, and yet people seem to be focused on the wind. Why? Probably because there's been a disinformation campaign that plays to the same people that scoff at climate change to begin with. For example, that helicopter photo that people love to spread?

Yeah, FAKE NEWS:

https://earther.gizmodo.com/viral-image-claiming-to-show-a-helicopter-de-icing-texa-1846279287

It's an eight year old photo from Sweden. Jesus, it's like no one facts checks anything or does the most basic questioning of things sometimes.

I think you're right about the %'ages of the power grid in Texas. It isn't the loss of the wind that has caused the problem. That doesn't mean that wind isn't an ignorant idea, based not in reality but in feelings. Any power source that can't product enough power to manufacture itself is doomed to failure. Any money, any, spent on wind is wasted money. It could have been spent increasing fossil capacity and improving infrastructure.

Is it disinformation, yeah, people are stupid. Disinformation is how they've advanced the green energy platform. It's politics. The vast majority of this country is ignorant of the facts of almost everything except who won American Idol or what the Kardashians ore doing, of what some moron posted on the tweeters or faceplace. It is what it is, and you have to fight fire with fire. Disinformation is the way politics is now done, and here's the deal, I no longer give a **** if my side wins fairly or not. I just want to win.

The left's idea of Green energy is a stupid idea. Full stop.

The meme isn't supposed to be factual, it's supposed to be funny. That picture has been around for a long, long time. Why do people think it was taken recently in TX? See my diatribe above for the answer. People are stupid.

Nuclear fuel cells are reliable long term solutions in my opinion, especially if the fed would start allowing reprocessing of spent nuclear fuel.

Fixed it.

Nuclear is the answer. Hydrogen isn't yet viable.

We have a clean energy source readily at hand. The left doesn't want a clean energy source. They want control.

The right doesn't want to piss off the fossil fuel folks.

In the mean time, the people and the planet suffer.

Nuclear is the answer. The research money should be spent there. All of it.

Miss Trump yet?

If President Trump was still In Office he would have already sent Thousands of Generators and whatever else Texas needed and would be working 24/7 on restoring Power . Biden is busy playing Mario . America has Fallen

Where's FEMA? where's the NG setting up warm tents?
President Trump would have been all over this within hours.

Ohhhhh, you're still here and still talking. Must have taken a break while CHenry had you in private telling you that you were special. He's the resident board expert on being right, so I know that probably sounded like gospel to you too. He's the best and smartest at everything... just listen, he'll tell you. Call me out uncensored you little crybaby and then go post your fake news bullcrap and then go back to your corner to pout like a child next time you get called out again.

Okay, so then why are utilities spending money on it? Especially in Texas. ERCOT is a small group with no federal regulation, free from all the crap right? So if wind and solar were all wasted money, why then, is Texas the leading wind producer in the country? A superweight in the US oil industry, but also the wind leader. Why?

Disinformation is the way politics is now done, and here's the deal, I no longer give a **** if my side wins fairly or not. I just want to win.
This is what is killing the GOP. Literally it's going to split it in two and cannibalize itself. Most all information that I've seen shows the country getting more and more blue with higher and higher percentages of the young, the educated, and people of all ethnic backgrounds trending blue. One reason is because they are not buying the lies, the disinformation, the whatever you want to call it. The attitude you describe is one that is not going to be a winning strategy because it will only serve to galvanize the other side in the long run, and then the GOP will lose by the numbers. The winning strategy would be to develop a better policy platform and win hearts and minds with honesty and integrity.

I will.

If they are a politician or have a job reporting or reading the news, they are a liar. With a very, very few exceptions.
I'm just talking about the folks around here who were posting the meme. I don't think any of them were being intentionally misleading, someone just made a mistaken assumption, and then it snowballed (ha?) from there.
