Congratulations and awesome story. Take him next weekend, because some day he may not ask you to go. That is what happened to me and wish I had just one more hunt with my son.Went out yesterday afternoon with my 8 year old son looking for his first deer using the crossbow. He’s been practicing in the backyard for a while now so I was comfortable letting him shoot.
Set down in the stand and about 5:45 a young 4 Pt walked out. I was about to ask him if he wanted to shoot it or wait on something else, and he immediately asked if he could shoot. Deer was 50 yards away when I spotted him, eating which was probably a good thing bc my son was so nervous. Slowly started making his way towards the feeder as I was trying to help my son move the crossbow on the rail of the stand.
Ranged him at 30 yards and once he was broadside my son let it fly. Hit him right in the heart as he only ran 30-40 yards and crashed.
Got him cleaned up and loaded in the truck right at dark.
After the hunt I told my son I felt like I was more nervous than he was before the shot. Thankful his practice paid off and he’s now wanting to go again next weekend

well he will figure it out someday.I walked out back to feed the cat and he was mounted on the 3D target. He got so exhausted once he fell over. He would walk around with a strange look and proceed to mount again. This went on for 30 min that I know of. He didn't mind the cat watching either.View attachment 316209View attachment 316210View attachment 316211View attachment 316212View attachment 316213
