Had they not made the decision and the child had been injured or killed, there would be as many, or more, people rake them over the internet "coals" as they are doing now for putting the animal down. A decision had to be made, made quickly, and by people who know more about animal behavior that the general public. It was the most sure way to save the child.

I think it was the ONLY sure way to save the child. Sad that it happened.

Walt Disney and his fellows have done the public a disservice by portraying animals as kind humans. Kipling got it right when he talked about nature being red in tooth and claw. The public has been duped and more than a few human lives lost as a result.

If it had been your kid/nephew/cousin, you'd probably think they did.

I mean I have some dumb parents in my family, but they could all beat Forrest Gump on an IQ test and don't get stoned and drunk until night time, so I don't think "whoops muh baby done did fall in the monkey house" is a likely hypothetical.

Two more thoughts are a.) let's be honest doubt we would have lost a cancer cure from that bloodline and b.) I've never been stuck in a traffic jam or TSA behind a bunch of gorrillas. Maybe folks who smelled like gorrillas, but I digress.

Mostly kidding. In reality I think all captive large preadators and primates should be killed.

I have no problem with killing wild animals. I think keeping them in cages is indefensible.
