I love fishing for sunfish on the flyrod, they fight hard. Been doing a lot of that since my trout fishing has been pretty non existent this year. Fry them whole is the best way to eat them, we would do it just like you did Dennis. Get a fork and salt shaker and chow down. My mom loves fish and I remember as a boy slaying the bluegills and taking a big mess home to eat. Good memories.

I remember mom frying up some really small sunfish for us.

We just cut the heads off, scaled and gutted them and ate the whole thing tail and all.

I'm pretty good with a fillet knife, a 3 to 4" fish is like a fish stick on both sides .

what size are you guys usually keeping to fry up?
7-9" fish.
Went back out with the fly rod again yesterday. Caught some small bass and bluegill in the weeds along the bank.
Caught some on a fly my grandpa tied many years ago. When my mom passed I found a couple of his tackle boxes in the basement.
Nice day on the lake and a trip down memory lane.

I've been using my flyrod on my pond...Just caught a 9" hybrid bluegill a bit ago, did not take a pic, but my wife caught this one a few nights ago...
