RFID chips are easy to foil.
Don't doubt that; guessing that if the automated tag readers are using optical technology they'd be pretty easy to foil too. So are all insurance carriers being required to participate in the system? When are the updates supposed to happen? Just wondering if any of that would have anything to do with the updated tags. Also sorta wonder if the state's going to update their own tags - I see a lot of those that are so faded they're barely readable.

Revenue enhancement strategy - take the no-charge ugly plate or pay extra for something decent. Sounds like the PikePass administrators have infiltrated and taken over the entire system.

Coming soon: mandatory "high tech" curb numbers for homes.

Probably Hipster Boo Boo. It looks like the mockingjay from the Hunger Games, which is appropriate given our state government's recent history.

Perhaps the following would have been even more appropriate:

THIS IS PRICELESS. :laugh6:

Their logic is to change the default plates every few years. Many people just pay for insurance for the month they need to buy the tag and then drop the insurance.

Exactly. Why don't they make it mandatory that when you pay the minimum liability, it must be for a year and cannot be canceled. Seems that would be the answer.

Three words - Insurance Company Profits
NONE of them would do ANYTHING to risk losing ANYONE's premium.....IMHO, of course. Cynic that I am....

A lot of us poor folks can't afford to pay a years worth of premiums all at once.

If they did require that, there would probably be even more uninsured drivers on the roads.

When I lived in Ks, they had the no-fault insurance. In an accident, your insurance paid for your vehicle no matter who was at fault.
If you didn't pay your premium, they had Kansas Highway Patrol agents look for your vehicle and remove the plate when found. Special unit.
I don't have a clue about how it works there now, but it was very effective at that time. Folks would hide their vehicles, etc, but they would eventually get them.
