Okay got a question and not sure where to find a correct answer. I hope one of you folks can point me the right way or maybe even know. I have been reading at the BATFE site but all I have done is made a bigger mess in my mind. LOL

I want to make a short barrel shotgun. I will follow the rules so it will be legal.

Here is the thing, the gun I would like to use is one with 3 bbls, NEF 20g, .223, .243. Can I cut the shotgun bbl down and swap it back and forth on the frame as long as I do not have the pistol grip on the frame with a rifle bbl?

Or do I just need a different donor to make my SBS?

Thanks for any help, David.

I have decided to just use a different shotgun.

But if anyone does know the answer feel free to add it here for future use.

As I understand, all you would have to do is turn in a Form-1, pay to $200.00 making fee and all the other paperwork. As far as calibers, I'd list all the different calibers just like you do with an UZI or HK. It's pretty common for an UZI to be registered in .22, 9mm and 45. Or the HK in 9mm, .223 and .308.

If it's denied, they will most likely send you a letter stating why and you could then call and ask about it. Or, send a letter back stating you want a refund and to cancel the Form-1.
