Hello, any suggestions will be appreciated. My name is Ken and this past July 5th my 21 year old grandson died. He had a great love for guns. I am happy to say I bought him his first gun and was able to teach him gun safety and take him to the range. After his death I was given his AK 47. It is a Century Arms Version 2. Nothing fancy but you know what it means to me. Now for the reason of my post. I would like to have his nickname engraved into the gun and then the name filled with some type of color that would be permanent. If that is too expensive, I would like to have his name cerekoted onto the gun. I would like to have this done from someone who does good quality work. I live in the OKC Metro area and would prefer to stay in this area. Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. My e-mail is [email protected] Thank you.

Hi, Ken! Welcome to the forum. Sorry for your loss. I'm certain you can find places in the OKC area that can take care of you. However, if you can't find someone you're satisfied with and/or you ever come to Enid, I know someone who can handle it and does excellent work. Just let me know.

Ken, am so sorry for your loss. There is a master engraver in MWC, his name is Bill Lowther. Very reasonable on prices, type his name in the search bar and you will find contact info.

Sooner Guns and Gold in Norman is doing Cerakote now, too. There was a thread here where someone wasn't super happy with their work, but they took it back in and made it totally right, from what he said. Harsh Firearms usually gets the biggest recommendations here, but they aren't cheap. Excellent quality work, but in some cases, it's not worth investing that much in a beater gun.

As for the color-fill, it doesn't need to be Cerakoted or professionally painted. You basically can get it engraved and then colorfill with Testor's model paint, which will likely last for the life of the gun. Here's how some of mine look:
