I really like the Springfield XDM 3.8 compact. It carries well, shoots great and comes the the option to insert a full size 19 round mag with a grip extension on it to make it a full size grip. You can also add a a pinky extension to the flush fit mag.

if your for training prior to carry then why not training to even buy the gun in the first place? No training required just like buying a gun and yes the right to carry it without having to give the State your money. Just my opinion. Ricky

I don't disagree but anyway you stack it with the .357 you have the option of either round where with the 442, 642, etc you stuck with only the 38. I have a model 60 with 3 inch barrel and I like it but the 340 is lighter and smaller. To each his own, but Id pay $100 or so more for the .357...

I just picked up a new SW MP340PD off gunbroker for $550 which is .357. In my opion its worth a $100 or so more bucks to get the .357 over the .38. I had a 642 and then a 638 both were okay but the 340PD is about the same size and weight and packs a lot more punch if loaded with .357.
