Graduated from West Point, commissioned into the Air Force, just got assigned as an E/A-18G Growler pilot for a few years before getting into an Air Force jet.
I appreciate the well wishes from everybody. Definitely attribute *at least* a small portion of the above to going through Scouts.

Check this out. I don’t post much, but my blood is boiling. When 75-85% of our state elected representatives and the governor support the law, why do we need a referendum? Why even have legislators.
You happen to be an expert on these? I’ve done a bit of research tonight and it seems the auction didn’t do any! Could use your insight if so.
I’m measuring it to have about a 24” barrel, but Type 38s are supposed to have a 30” or 19.5” as a carbine. My research also points to this being...
Turns out the auction house didn’t do their research.. the markings say Type 38 with a 1,519,XXX serial number. Only two numbers I’ve found so far match. I also don’t love the sporterized look: front sights, stock, and not sure what else are not original according to my Google-fu.
I’m not familiar with the term mum in this context. Shows how much I know about these things...
Yeah, that’s pretty rough. The 25% premium on the purchase price isn’t great either.
It is. It was sold among several Springfield 1903s in .30-06 so I mistakenly thought this was too. My...
Thanks very much. This is my first dive into historic firearms, so I’m really looking forward to fondling these.
“They don’t make ‘em like they used to.”
Here’s what I got over the weekend to support the JM Davis Museum Foundation (and my gun addiction). In order of age...
1. 1840s Kentucky Rifle, manufacturer unknown, .38, fair condition. Anybody know if/how I can find out the history on this?
2. 1894 Springfield Model 1898, .30-40 Krag...
Thanks for the info, y’all. I reached out to a few people, one of whom is the HBK Firearms doing transfers at the museum. He said the auction requires a $30 fee per gun, even if multiple are on the same form. He also said an FFL would have to pay the fee just the same as anyone else, but that...
Hey OSA,
I just purchased four guns from the JM Davis auction. They have an FFL on site who charges $30 per gun, but I know we have FFLs around who charge just $10 per transfer.
What is the process of another FFL holder picking up my guns at the auction site? Can they transfer the firearms to...
