Pretty sure it's the same stuff. That's what the headstamp is on the .44 mag I shoot in my Redhawks, but the only dumb question is the one you don't ask. CB

You are correct. The 44 mag as we know it, is the same as the 44 rem mag. The 44 spl can be fired from a 44 mag weapon, but you can't load 44mag into a 44 spl weapon. The 44 russian also known as the 44 s&w russian is a black powder centerfire cartridge with a bullet diameter of .429 and a COL of 1.430, very similar to the 44 spl.
