The first one I bought, personally, in a store, was at OPS. I picked up my M&P Pro there a couple years ago. My others were all hand-me-downs prior to that.

Remington pump 22 (never can remember the model #, but it's in my safe) at Western Auto about 1966 @ $50.00 brand new. First center fire was a Remington 742 30-06 at Target in about 1971 for $125.00. Those were the days!
Edit: Of course, I also bought an HP-35 scientific calculator for $325.00 in 1974(?). Now you can buy about the same thing for $5.00!
2nd Edit: Fall of 1971 I shot a nice 8 pt. whitetail buck with that 742. It became the first dead one I had ever seen.

My first gun of my very own was an H&R Leatherneck .22 LR semi-auto rifle - purchased from my cousin for $12. Later traded it in a pawn shop @ Ft. Smith, AR for $25 and a Winchester Model 67 .22 singleshot rifle. Used the money to go across the street and buy a suit for high school graduation - drove home in my 1957 Bel-Air 2dr hardtop to graduate with the Poteau High School class of 1968.

bought my heritage 22 and my sigma 9mm in 06 at a gun show...
My first was actually a purchase my dad did for me at the old Gibson's store on SE 29th in Del City. Had saved allowance and odd job money (was 12 year old) and bought a Remington Model 1100 in 20Ga. $113 before taxes....... 1965 (I think)..
