I finished saying good-bye so I decided to make a run in the house before I left. I made the statement, “I am going to do a run” and then I heard a person standing behind me respond to me saying, “OK” I did not turn around so I don’t know who said OK to me. I, wrongfully, assumed it was clear to go. I pulled my pistol out and set up and started coming around the corner like this.
This is exactlly why shoot house protocols must be hard and fast rules. The failure here could be viewed as a single point failure, rather than a cascading event. Lack of protocols and their implementation. If you're running a shoot house and you don't have them in place, here's your sign.

To expand on what Mitch Rapp shared,

Yes there are several lessons to be learned. Some of which I do not feel are my
place to share because they are coming directly from Sonny.

In the time I have known him, Sonny has always been open to questions,
challenges, and learning. Anyone who wants to critique him or critique anyone
needs to have the balls to do it openly, professionally, and respectfully.
They need to establish facts and go from there, not with ignorance and speculation.
    That's what professionals do.

Those of you who want to build yourself up by tearing someone else down are truly pathetic and will never amount to ****, But I am glad you are spending your time posting and not procreating.

Lesson I can and will share:

NEVER say it won't happen to you
TRUST BUT VERIFY..even when dealing with those you know and have trained with before.
ALWAYS have an emergency medical plan. The more detailed the better. Get training, have the proper kit, and know what emergency assets and services are in your training area.
Stupidity on YOUR part will not necessarily constitute an emergency on MINE!

Another lesson for me is to get to the next Trauma class you do Jeff. With six kids, I often use money as an excuse, but being a family that shoots, I can't afford not too.

So if any of you trolls want to talk **** or make jokes please have the balls to stop hiding behind a keyboard, PM me and I'll be happy to meet you and discuss it in person.

Where will you be teaching this class? Any idea of the fee?

Nothing funny about the shooting at all and nothing to disparage you at all tacmedic, but Sonny P had a questionable reputation in the training community before this event...this event does not help improve that reputation. That's not "talking sh#t" or "hiding behind a keyboard". That's a pretty well discussed position that is shared by a lot of people and tips the scales towards the side of "people I probably wouldn't spend my money to train with"...even if, in reality, he is a stand-up guy and a excellent instructor. I simply don't have the scratch to put towards an experiment...

Glad you were there to help, I bet it made a difference.

This is what I keep hearing but what does that mean? Was the instructor insured for what he was doing? Did the range carry insurance for their premises? Does that mean he's going to hang up his instructor's hat, such as it was, and leave the business? That's a very open ended statement.

Saying "I ****ed up" is one thing. What does he intend to do about it?

To me it only means what it says:

Rather than blame others, Sonny Puzikas says it's his own fault and says he will pay medical bills and other damages.

I have no idea if he has insurance and no idea how he will actually make payment.

I took a class where Sonny was an assistant instructor about ten years ago and was not impressed by the material.

I have since read some of his material online and seen several of his videos and saw nothing that would compel me to take a class.
