So, because he was beligerent to you, he was a scumbag, and you had the right to confiscate his ammo?

Good thing he wasn't in need of it at sometime before the end of the shift. I don't think confiscating someone's ammo for arguing with you is something I would endorse. I understand being cautious, but I don't think taking his lawful property because you disagreed was a good move.

Not to mention taking him out of his car and getting thumb control while bending him over the hood???? For arguing with you????

This is a serious post with no intent to point fingers or denigrate. But:

I find this thread to be both very interesting and very surprising. The number of times some here admit to having had official interaction with the police at a level that required notification of carry is a very real surprise to me. I am far from being an angel but some of you have had more contact with the police in a year than I and I suspect most of us have had in a lifetime. Incredible.

I have 4 boys. 3 of them have familiarized themselves with WCSO, BAPD, TCSO, TPD, BPD, OHP, CPD and probably a few other cans of alphabet soup. I've been run over by an 18 wheeler and a truck totalled, my wife had a crack head rip the front of her van off because he could not decide what side of the road he wanted to drive on and numerous vehicles destroyed because boys drive like idiots. So just because someone has many interactions with LE every year does not mean they are bad people that should not be carrying guns, as you imply.

I don't think he meant you shouldn't be allowed to carry a gun, just that some people have a lot of interaction with LEOs. Bad luck, not bad people.

Some of us live in the Moore area, and get pulled over from time to time. The law states that you have to notify, regardless of why the contact is made.

Actually, it states you have to notify upon detainment, arrest, or routine traffic stop. Just because you run into an officer at the C-store, does not mean you have to notify. However Moore has been know to pull people over at the drop of a hat.

Do you live in the same city I do? Rofl. You have to notify during any traffic stop. Have you driven through Nichols Hills or the Village area? Those cops will stop you for just going over 2 miles an hour and/or not "fitting" the profile of someone who "belongs" in that area. There's a reason why most people hate the Village police department or refuse to drive anywhere near that area. Also, Edmond police can be just as bad. I know more people who have had more bad experiences with Edmond police than just about any other police force... well okay maybe except for Valley Brook.

I've never had to deal with the Moore police force. The Norman Police force can be a real pain, but they also deal with dumb college kids all day, so they get a pass on that one. The Norman PD on the eastern side of town are a lot friendlier and not as uptight as the ones in the western part of town. The downtown OKC police force (Will Rogers Division) are actually some of the coolest and chill cops on duty that I've dealt with. Very respectful and courteous and aren't uptight A-holes. I've also noticed that they are perhaps some of the most physically fit and intimidating police I've seen in Oklahoma. These guys are friggin built like MMA fighters heh. Even with the physique, they are still some of the most level-headed and nicest cops out there. I think more police forces can learn from them.

And no, I'm not some guy who is mouthy or antagonizes when pulled over. I'm always respectful and kind never argue, even when I get an officer that is either having a bad day or has a stick up his arse and/or has a superiority complex. I smile and say "thank you" and go on my merry way. Majority of the time I don't even get ticketed and only get cited with a warning.

This is not a generalization, but an observation. I've noticed a trend that many gun owners also like fast cars, aircraft, boats and other "toys". They tend to explore their limits with these toys, so they occasionally exceed the proscribed limitations with said toys.

Just comes with the territory I guess.

And we accept that territory, and the fines that go with it. You are absolutely right on. If you are sitting in your recliner most of the day, you are not likely to have much real life exposure to much of anything. If you are out doing stuff, and doing things (aircraft, motorcycles, boats, hot rods) pushing the edge with many "toys", or are a travling salesman that drives 80-90K miles a year, you are most likely going to meet a lot of people. Some are going to have flashing lights. I used to drive more miles in an average week than my neighbor drove in 6 months. Which one of us had the better driving record? That's why I purchased an airplane.
