I want to know what the forum thinks.
No comments please (unless it is a critique of the poll, in which case I'll have to contact a mod to get a choice added).
I don't want any arguments in here, this is just to see what the forum thinks of drones being used in the US.

I'm critiquing the poll. You left out the only option I care to vote for which is spotting hogs for slaughter with a Dehoggaflier.

I guess you could consider that option #5.
That is pretty cool though. Was it the a state or feds doing it though?
I think the issue here is the government's use of drones within US borders.

It seems like most of the loudest naysayers can't tell the difference between civilian and government use.

I would like to have seen another option for immediate threats, such as hostage situations. I have seen the small RC-operated drones used in that instance, I think that is OK, but not full size surveiling, hence that option.

I believe moonshining and marijuana should be legal for personal usage. Hell I believe in deregulation. Don't need some damn snoopy drone spotting someones pot still, or looking in their tomato patch. Shoot them all down. I need an AA gun.

As if that has ever been a valid excuse for surveillance.

Your poll is specific to drones, but you don't clarify whether the voters are okay with manned aircraft participating in the activities named. Hell, a person on a damn motorcycle can participate in the activities named.

Particularly "Yes, only if used with a warrant like any other surveillance. " Uhhh, a warrant isn't needed to any other surveillance. Scoping out a stash house or tailing a person to track their activities, any other things a person could do from publicly accessible places (like roads, easements, business) sure don't need a warrant. And they sure are being done now without drones.

I don't think people here are afraid of the tool, they are just now realizing that the tool allows these things to be done more easily. I think we need a more general poll (not drone-specific) to help clarify what people are afraid of.
We ask for too much salvation by legislation. All we need to do is empower individuals with the right philosophy and the right information to opt out en masse.

If you would add the choice of using them only for protecting the borders I would vote for that. Border protection covers more than just immigration.
