Rick Warren: Chick-fil-A’s owner told me they set a new world record in sales today

Tell you a little secret about me. The only fast food chain I have visited in 2 years now has been whataburger. When we eat out it's local owned and operated. So boycotting chic-fil-a is no great heart break. Had a great dinner at hey mambo tonight since my AC went down today and I didn't want to turn the stove on.
*disclaimer Just because bettingpython says it's probably okay doesn't mean it is so. His opinons and statements are not a defense against prosecution.

I have been following this story for awhile and think it is pretty funny. The lefties wanted to boycott CFA for the personal opinions of one man and several lefty political types got involved. It backfired big time. Support for CFA has been growing for days and business has been booming. CFA stores all over the country were packed today and the store my step daughter works at had to close early because they ran out of chicken.
The lefties "Kiss In" protest on Friday is not expected to draw nearly as many.
The Wendy's owner had to pull the sign after the company headquarters heard about it.
If you want to see some pics from how packed the CFA stores were today, go here.

Rick, get the partisan BS out of here. Don't try to spin it this way. This isn't left v right, conservative v liberal, Repub v Dem. It's not even Christian v Atheist.
This is squarely those who wish to limit the rights of a people they feel inferior, versus those who support an equal right to marriage for all consenting individuals.
Again, it's not about the beliefs of Dan Cathy. It's not about the fact he openly voiced those beliefs. It's about the actions he takes based on those convictions, namely how he donates his money. So those who support marriage equality look to avoid giving his company their money to prevent it from being spend on causes they oppose. To say it backfired is a bit short-sighted; they didn't spend any money there, did they?

I find it quite ironic that this has only become an issue lately.
In 2004 a friend of mine worked at the 71st/Garnett store. One of his co-workers was a classmate of mine and was flamboyantly gay. He worked there for about 3 months before the management figured out he wasn't just happy but a homosexual. He was promptly fired for being insubordinate, or at least thats what it said on the pink slip, he was verbally told that Chik Fil A doesn't believe in his lifestyle and as such cannot keep him as an employee.
As I recall he contacted a couple of the tv stations in Tulsa and basically got laughed at as they hung up on him.
Why did the media not want a piece of that? An 18 year old kid trying to earn honest money was fired for his sexual orientation. I'm not going to say my stance on same sex marriage or any of that because whether I agree with it or not he was discriminated against and it's BS.
I must not be very upset over it though because I never quit eating there...

They have a really good salad for us fatties trying to get back down to our military weight!
I think the issue has exploded because it was fairly recently discovered that he donates significant amounts of money to causes that work to prohibit equal marriage. So it has moved from Cathy simply having an vocal opinion to actively opposing through his financial backing.
I'm not trolling you, I intend this to be a honest response to what I believe was a genuine question.

Seems to me this whole fight is over the definition of a word. Christians (myself included) tend to look at the word marriage as two people being united in the sight of God rather than the state. Those who disagree with the Christian belief system (who have every right to do so) tend to look at it as two people united in the sight of the state rather than under God. Personally, I don't see why more LGBT people aren't satisfied with the term "civil union". If all you really want is equal treatment under the law, then the term "civil union" should suffice nicely. Maybe the word "marriage" should be discarded entirely in favor of two different terms like "church union" and "civil union" so people would stop fighting over it?

I am pretty sick of hearing about all of it, honestly. I have never eaten at CFA willfully - though I have been dragged there by family members (and was disappointed by how mediocre it all was). The biggest problem I have is people lining up to buy fast food as a political statement. I think that it is a pretty apt illustration of the state of America's political discourse - reactionary, superficial, lazy, embarrassing and really unhealthy.
