Default Academy scraping the bottom of the barrel

    Sooner State Pawn
I called just now trying to locate a sako tecomate 300wsm. They show them online on their website.

I call and get transferred to the firearms counter,

Me; do you have any sako tecomate 300wsm's
    Him; we don't sell them.
    Me; you have them online....
    Him; We do?
Me; yes can you order it in for me?
Him; Uhmmm no, We can't do any special orders.
Me; it is a special order to order a firearm from your own company?
    Him; Uhhhh Yes.
Me; Okay well how do I get it them if I order it online?
Him; you will have to go to sportsworld or somewhere to pick it up....
Me; your telling me if I order a gun from your website I have to go to sportsworld a competitor to you to pick it up?
    Him; Yes
Me; (I am laughing at this point) so why would't I just buy the gun from them then?
    Him; I don't know.

    Me; CLICK!!!!!!!

    Seriously?????

And this is the same company that tore up my partially filled out 4473 because I had started on it before the person behind the counter relayed the instructions to me. Told me it was "against the law" to start filling out the form on my own. Really? Geez, it's no wonder I haven't been back.
The laws that forbid the carrying of arms are laws of such a nature. They disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes. Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man. - Thomas Jefferson

A couple years ago when I was out looking for a job and thought hey gun counter at academy or bass pro would be ok. Applied both places and even spoke with managers they like hiring idiots for the most part. If they think you know about guns and could actually help them sell more you won't likely be hired

I asked three different "firearms experts" at Academy if they had Snap Caps, between the three of them they thought they may have them over by the toy guns. I told them "Snap Caps" not caps for a
toy gun. None of them never heard of them and as I walked away they seemed to be laughing about it. I went back and got all three of their attention, and gave them a quick lesson on what Snap Caps are by showing them a website on my iPhone. Apparently this is the only training they had received since being at Academy!

From what I understand the employees at any particular Academy store have very little, if anything at all, to say about what is sold out of the store they work in. I know the folks who work in my local Academy are almost as frustrated by that policy as their customers are. It's the same model as most 'mega' stores. Some bean counter somewhere who probably knows next to nothing about the merchandise the store is selling decides how many of Gizmo-A go to Store #15 in whatever season based on some table designed by some other bean counter.

Please leave me some kind words if we have had a good transaction. I will be sure to return the favor!
