Appaloosa with ed harris and viggo mortensen
I'm becoming a bigger fan of the genre lately. 'Modern Western' qualifies as a non spaghetti-western, or white guys painted up as indian sidekicks, or John Wayne taking the leading role. Not that there's anything wrong with those films, but they just aren't what I'm thinking of. I'm sure you understand.
Here's a short list. If you don't mind, expand on it. I'm having a hard time finding ones I haven't seen:
Dances with Wolves
Tombstone
3:10 to Yuma (new version)
The Missing
True Grit (new version)
Open Range
Unforgiven
Little House on the Prairie (just kidding)
Appaloosa with ed harris and viggo mortensen
Silverado and Lonesome Dove
Looking for a varmint barrel Winchester Wildcat 22lr.

Cheaper than dirt $59.95 P-Mags
Dicks for having a v-jj
Kings Guns in Cushing $75.00 P-Mags
Brigadoon in Del City $39.95 used GI mags
Savage Trading in Yukon $800.00 per thousand
Heartland Outdoors $49.00 P-Mags
The quick and the dead
2013 sucks. I spilled a gut, lost a nut and broke my heart.

It is the soldier, not the organizer, Who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, Who salutes the flag, Who serves beneath the flag, And whose coffin is draped by the flag, Who allows the protestor to burn the flag

The Outlaw Josey Wales, so many one liners.
Unforgiven, hands down. The real west.

Well, just to stir the pot a bit, I've not seen many on the above listed names except for The Quick and the Dead with Sam Elliott. (Probably not the same movie as referred to above.)
For my money, I don't go to movies anymore. Oh, and I'm just about old enough to remember the "old west" and the newer movies don't compare.
Maybe that's because I've been a cowboy before.
