Dustin,
Call Dahl Heating and Air in Yukon. Ask them how much to repair a leak in the condensor, maybe they'll be able to fix you up.
I think the number is 354-1150
Another thing to consider is that it holds something like 13-15# of freon and is probably empty now. You could hear it leaking out on Monday and suction was at 30psi when it was running. Cycling off every minute or so. Does that $400 include putting 15# of R22 back in it? I figured that would be at least $400 in and of itself.

I've talked to 4-5 different guys now. Seems like they're all the same. Except for Joe (eaglerjs). You Tulsa guys are lucky to have him. First time I've felt I was talking to an honest person. I've skipped calling the guys you see on TV too. It's like asking a crooked cobbler about a broken shoe lace. I might be able to fix it, but you should just buy new shoes.
I'll keep trying, but my goodness they are wearing me out.

That includes the freon. 15# sounds high. Look at the tag to see what the factory charge is and that will get us a good idea of what it will need. Either way. My cost is about 10 a pound

I haven't called him yet but Rooster1971 is an HVAC guy. I explained that I'm tired of getting the run around and being quoted outrageous prices and he seemed like he understood. You should give him a try especially since he is a member.
Ty's gonna come by and help me try to fix it. If that doesn't go well, the search will continue.

I can refer to you an honest guy out of Moore, he wont be the cheapest though as he doesnt skimp or do cheap (band aid) repairs. he will quote you the right way to do it and nothing more or less.

Well once again, Ty is proving himself to be one of the nicest and most versatile guys on OSA. I'd bet he'll get you fixed up.
If you have to go with a new system and you're going to be in the same house for a few years, consider GEO thermal. There is a 30% tax credit and your electric company probably offers a significant rebate as well. We just built a 4,600 sq. ft house. We are total electric and our bill last month was $220 with the thermostat on 73. After getting our 30% tax credit and our $3,500 rebate from OEC, we're into it for not much more than a heat pump. I am thrilled with it so far.
