    Default Another dove question...

The hunting regs wording seems unclear to me. Is hunter orange required? Regs say only during a rifle or muzzle loader season, but I see a lot of pictures of people wearing orange while bird hunting.00

Orange is not required. I think some people just don't have non-orange hunting clothes.

wearing a little orange wouldnt be the worst idea if you are going to be hunting public land. It can get crowded.

You need to wear orange the last 4 days of the first dove season because thats muzzleloader season and the second season because thats holiday deer season. See black box on page 12 of hunting regs. either Hat or vest.
Most pictures you see like the cover of the regs are quail hunters hunting during deer season.
Its a good idea during all of quail season so you don't get Dick Cheney'ed.

I always wear orange while hunting upland birds. It's too easy to swing on a low flying bird and possibly not see a person nearby. It's a safety issue with us, not a legal requirement unless it overlaps with a deer season date.

Its a punishment, because you have to deal with everyone who doesn't have it.

I,also, wear lots of blaze orange while upland bird hunting because it makes everyone aware of everyone else. Not to mention safety and common sense.

I don't use blaze orange except for quail and pheasant hunting... If you are planning on dove hunting on public land just make sure you have shooting glasses and stay at least 75-100 yards from the next hunter. Let other hunters know where you are when they start walking in your direction.. No need for blaze during dove!

Well, I'm hunting alone on private land, so other hunters won't (shouldn't?) be a problem. I just want to stay legal. I'm a stickler for rule following.
